The group, plus Ms. MacMurphy, make their way through the sewer system to the subway connection and then to an exit that pops up near the boat. Fortunately for you, the boat hasn't transformed or been scuttled by edeinos since it was left there.
JJ offers to pilot the boat. Regardless of who does, the boat makes its way downriver and is headed for the storm wall, but the sea rises up about a kilometer from the reality border. The water falls away to reveal a large set of jaws attached to a large aquatic dinosaur attacking the boat.
You are being attacked by a Mosasaurus. The size and demeanor of the beast together make this a Dramatic Encounter.

Your group goes first, then the Mosasaurus. The monster gets a Setback, which will Disfavor whatever action it takes. That action will depend on how you choose to resolve this encounter:
Option 1: Escape
If you wish, you can try to escape. This will involve the boat pilot and the Mosasaurus racing to complete a Dramatic Skill Resolution. If you complete Step D first, those on the boat escape. If the Mosasaurus completes Step D first, you will be forced to fight it.
The boat is Speed 12, has a Maneuver Rating of -2, and a Toughness of 15. The DN of the DSR steps is 12 (your boat speed), which the pilot uses Water Vehicles to test. One other character can help, and the rest can take ranged attacks at the Mosasaurus, with a -2 penalty for each step difference (so Step A firing at Step C would be -4). The speed factor gives +2 to the Water Vehicles test when rolling for a step and +2 to defense if the monster tries to bite or ram the boat.
Option 2: Stand and Fight
If you choose, or if Option 1 fails, you can fight the Mosasaurus. In this option, you can stay in the boat or dive into the water to fight depending on your style.
