The Birth of Aeon

In the first days of Existence there was chaos. The elements roiled and seethed, earth fire and water flowed with little difference from one another. Gravity, light, dark, time. These were not even concepts. But then order imposed itself. A World Tree was being born. And so one of its first worlds started to take shape.

In time this world would come to be known as Aeon. But for now it bore little resemblance to its future self. The raging fires dimmed, the coiling light and dark unwove from another. The skies settled into the heavens, the lands and seas into the earth. The world was taking shape, but not quite done forming.

However, traces of those wild early days remained and would always remain. The god of the world that would be was also not formed, just like their world. But even unborn they were yet a god and still held some matter of sway. They could reach out and determine which element would remain affiliated with their realm. Choose one of the following affinities that will impact your realm.

Note: I formed a table of different affinities and rolled there. These are what choices came up for your realm!

Fire: Flames in your world blaze a little brighter, a little hotter. Sometimes fire geysers form of their own accord. These are lingering traces of the primordial elements that fashioned this world.

Life: Vitality still pulses in this realm, a vestige of the earliest days of creation. It's mark can be found in the way plants sprout readily, how animals grow and flourish readily and how sickness is less frequent. These are lingering traces of the primordial elements that fashioned this world.

Cold: One of the oldest elements, this one remembers what it is not to be. Your realm bears traces of this oldest memory. Here the cold creeps in more readily, the warmth of fires stretches just a little shorter than in other worlds and the shade is ever so slightly cooler. The winters are longer and snows are deeper. These are lingering traces of the primordial elements that fashioned this world.

OOC: Your god hasn't fully awakened yet, this is just a small preamble leading up to the beginning. Your realm will still be as you described it, these traces will just add a bit of unique flavor to the realm.

The Birth of Aeon

With the world settling and firming into place, you can feel the echoes of intelligence. Minds, shaped by your will. They will come into existence before yourself and they'll be awaiting your arrival, but for now they too are still in their final stages of formation, just like your lands. You have a strong image of them already, what they shall look like, what they shall call themselves, but there is a final gift to bestow upon your people. Choose one of the lingering potentials to imbue upon your people.

Hard Working: Your people will work long after other races have quailed from the mental and physical strain of work. It differs from industriousness in that it is more a force of will than a sense of duty that eggs them on. They are particularly effective at the grueling tasks of labor.

Arcane: Your people have a sense for the other worldly and more sensitive to things beyond the simple physical. This does not mean they wield magic naturally, but they may have a sense that magic has been done, or a feeling if a spirit is nearby. Not all will possess it, or possess it equally, but such a sensitivity will be more common in your people.

Physicality: When it comes to conflict, your people have a natural edge. They possess a greater strength and speed than is average for mortals. (Not supernaturally so, but markedly stronger or quicker than average for other races) When it comes to tasks of speed, strength or stamina, they excel. It does not always translate to more effective work, but it makes for excellent warriors, hunters and athletes.

The Birth of Aeon

The world is nearly done. You can feel your followers. They exist somewhere though you cannot see them yet. But there is an imperfection in their form. How could there not be, after all? For to be perfect something must be unchanging and change is certainly on the horizon. Your stirring is proof of that. But what imperfection exists in your followers is yet to be determined. You may guide the form it'll take.

Note: The flaw isn't going to be overwhelming and all consuming. When complications do arise naturally in your realm, generally from large time lapses, they'll be more likely to be linked to your peoples flaw if they did arise internally.

Alas, it is a pity it must exist, but such is the way of mortals. These flaws are what shows the gulf between the mortal and the divine. Or at least so the divine like to think.

Fearful: Your people are prone to fears. Whether it's the unknown beast in the dark or a turn on the battlefield, they are quick to lean towards self-preservation, even if it's not in their best interest.

Superstitious: Your people possesses a fear of the otherworldly and also see signs of the arcane where none exist. They may develop rituals they believe to be protective or arcane when it is nothing of the sort. They struggle to find the line between real magic and their own imaginations.

Xenophobic: Your people has a natural aversion to other races. They regard them with mistrust and often can only see the negatives in other peoples. This can make it difficult to establish or maintain relations with other peoples.

The Birth of Aeon

She was eternal: there was no beginning, no end but she was also paradox for she had a beginning. When she came to be she did not know for how could eternity know it's own beginning? Therein lay the paradox of her essential nature.

She who Was waited to Be and as she waited she stretched forth her perception and felt her people being shaped as was her realm. All was perfection save for one discordant note in the symphony of Creation; an imperfect note that she had to shape lest all fall to discord. And yet this did not bother her for she knew this was the way of all things so she reached forth and shaped that note, wove it into the fabric of the people taking shape. Let them reach for her when they felt afraid. Let them raise their voices in supplication and she would grant them succour. Superstition would become worship in this, her newly born realm. Her Aeon.

The Birth of Aeon

You feel yourself stirring. The world is still hot from the fires of creation, the heavens and earth are only newly forged, but the time will soon be upon you. You sense your fledgling people already born, several generations have passed for them as they unknowingly await your arrival just as the skies and the mountains and seas of your realm await you. It is not long now.
