Just to clarify in case I use words that others are unfamiliar with, crunch vs fluff in an RPG:
https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/c...crunch_versus_fluff/
To clarify, the only crunch-changes I was discussing were 1) reintroducing a rule variant (gestalt) from a previous edition, and 2) standard action to declare that you're ready before you can cast. Everything else is exactly the same as standard 5th edition DnD. Sure the fluff has changed, but given that most of the campaigns that I've been in have used their own cosmology (i.e. GM's often make up their own gods and rarely use minor ones like Milil or Gond), I don't think tweaking the fluff to a Wheel of Time perspective is a big change -- the only "crunchy" difference is the gestalt option.
So, given that I don't think that we're house-ruling a system, what do you all think about that? How would that support a Wheel of Time-type of world?
Edit: Or we could get rid of gestalt and mandate that every level you have to choose a different class from your previous level, then take things to level 40 instead of 20. Not really a big difference either way.
