May the 5ith be with you.

So... as the subject says...

Just curious if anyone took the time to build a game designed for forum play?

Maybe... half RPG, and half board game?

Something akin to Who's Line Is It Anyways maybe?

Or somewhere between SWN & Space Crusade?

it depends on the GM?  All RP  games  can be played.. if i was any good  I could use   the  out TFT game that Steve Jackosn  Just  revibed, but i can't  do  hexbaords.

other then that? The GM has  to   be a little lax on areas   of effect...your players should be  told   about 'fog of war'..so you don't get "..but i thought..."

I use Semi-freeform with my own system..it works well.. and you don't have to worry about  Riles Lawyers.

if you  run the game in such a way, that it is fun for you, it will be fun for the players and  and  will be 'just right' for play by post.

I ran a Necromunda tabletop game on rPoL for awhile. It took awhile but it was def doable. You just need the free time and the right players.

I presume that must multi-players letter writing game would fit the bill.

Particularly, I'm aware of Callisto (never played it, though). By the preview, I would say that rpol would be a good place to play it.

quote from the preview:
Players act by sending letters written in character to other players. They have a limited number of people they “know” and they can only send mail to those people [...]. Players may say anything they like within that mail. They may even share their contact list with others, extending the reach of their correspondents.

Narrative driven and focused games tend to fair better than miniatures tactics games, however with the right people even highly detailed miniatures games could be quite fun via play-by-post.

Callisto sound intriguing.

For clarity though, What I mean is,

Has anyone taken the time to build mechanics or game systems that are designed for, say RPOL.

Having learned what does, and doesn't, work in forum based play... maybe someone has attempted to build a game that is part RPG, part board game (maybe?)...

So I'm not talking about miniatures, or RPG books you get for tabletop

I used several times gamebooks like choose-your-own-adventure and Fighting Fantasy as a basis for play by post games. They can usually be adapted very easily and work very well, but I can't say that they were designed especially for play by post.
