Battlemap Generator

I've been in several games (and run a few) where the GM uses text maps to visualize battles. I've found that keeping these maps in text files or whatnot and them manually updating them was a bit of a pain.  So, I wrote a quick Battlemap Generator web app for making these RPoL maps.  It saves any maps you make to your browser's local storage so you can retrieve them.  Feel free to use it, if you think it'll be useful to you.  It's completely free.

HOLY HANNAH, thank you SO very much for this!!

I've been using MSPaint to hack and chop together battle maps for encounters, and it's ... well, it's a struggle to get it to work correctly.

I'll be using this, from now on, to track character positions in the future!!

I’m just messing around with your battlemap generator. Super cool.

I’m curious if you could add an image button to the grid. In the same fashion as the colored text. So that when you select an empty square, then the image button, it queries you for an image link. And just wraps the url you paste in it with the <img src=“ rubb code. I put two 100 pixel images in it just to see if it would work, and I think you could use tokens for players and monsters that way.

I know it won’t show the pics here, but this is what the output looks like. You’d have to put something in each square or set the minimum spaces to 100 pixels. Otherwise it doesn’t give equal sized squares.

Anyway, super cool and easy to use generator. I think that is way easier than using excel.

Another idea is having a toggle so you can "fill" in tiles to make them impassable to better illustrate walls etc.
