Post-apocalyptic system?

I’m interested in checking out a post-apocalyptic tabletop system. I don’t want future fantasy with elves, dragons, and tech, so Shadowrun is out. I want low tech in the vein of the Fallout or Wasteland games, so Cyberpunk 2020 is out. I know Fallout has their own tabletop game but I checked it out and it’s pretty bare bones.
Anyone have any recommendations?

Apocalypse World seems an obvious choice if you are ok with a more narrative game.

Are mutants considered fantasy, then Gamma World, though it might not be low tech enough.  It has many editions to choose from, the latest about 10 years ago.  Does Gurps have a post-apocalyptic version?

Gamma World can be low or High Tech depending on the GM.

Has anyone don'e this setting for Savage Worlds yet? If you are up to the challenge as a GM that might work.

Aftermath or the original setting for Twilight 2000 might also work. There is a new version of TW:2000 that just finished there Crowd Funding.

Just quick input off the top of my head.

Post-apocalyptic system?

GURPS and it's genre line After the End are post-apoc with as little or as much fantasy as wish to set the slider to.

The advantage being, once you learn the GURPS system, you can use it for everything, fantasy, sci-fi, modern, war, dungeon fantasy, supers, etc.

Post-apocalyptic system?

Thanks. I've been aware of GURPS since the 80s but never played it. Maybe it's time to learn?

As a newbie, what books do I need to be able to run a game?

Basic Roleplaying (Chaosium) also works well with post-apoc.  Well, it's very flexible so you can make it work with pretty much any genre, and you'd only need the basic rulebook (pdf is available on their site, I forget exactly what I paid, but low $20s; softcover is also available).

I'm surprised RIFTS hasn't been mentioned yet...
