I can't believe I only just discovered this site!

Hello, I'm brand new here. I've been playing TTRPGs for over 25 years and I only recently learned of RPOL's existence! With this quarantine going on I'm glad I found this site bc I can't DM my regular group since we're in social isolation. So I'm really looking forward to getting to know everyone here. Well, maybe not everyone since there's probably thousands of members. But you get what I'm saying.

I hope everybody here is keeping themselves as safe as possible with Covid19 wreaking havoc  all over the world! I have 2 genetic disorders that make my immune system function rather poorly and I'm so thankful I haven't caught the virus myself yet. Of course it'd be really hard to contract bc I only leave the condo my wife and I live in for medications and other necessities... I haven't even been to the supermarket in over a month. And I can't even remember the last time we ate at a restaurant. Getting take-out or delivery is fine but it's definitely not the same as going somewhere else to eat instead of eating every meal at home. My wife's B-Day is coming up and this will be the first time in our almost 11 year marriage we're not going to celebrate it anywhere other than home. And if this continues into August we're going to have to celebrate our 11th Anniversary at home too.

I'm not sure why I shared that but I guess I'm getting Cabin-Fever from being stuck at home for so long everyday. I'm so glad I found RPOL so I can begin DMing once again. Of everything 'social distancing' has taken from me, playing DND/PF is way up on the list!

So anyway, I guess all I'm doing here is introducing myself to the other members. How have you all been handling the quarantine and isolation? Does anyone have anything they'd like to share about going through this pandemic?  I hope you all and all your families are alright!

So long for now!

Welcome and thanks for sharing!

There's a friendly and active community here at RPOL and I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself.  Check out the "Wanted - GMs" and "Wanted - Players" forums for game requests and let us know if you have any questions!

Welcome to the family!  Here you will find all the to your heart desires!  Whether it’s system or creative freeform we got it.

I am on total lockdown due to my ailments that make me at high risk and so we all muddle through this together.   A couple of tips for you are below:-

Make sure you turn on your rmail by going to the link at the top that is User preferences, there you will find some settings to play around with including the rmail one as that is how you and most GMs can talk.

On the main menu there are two forums you can find what you want to play in
Wanted: players
Wanted: GMs

At the bottom of the main menu you will also find search link to find games

So all I can say now is

KEEP SAFE & STAY IN AND WE'LL BEAT THIS VIRUS TOGETHER!!

HAPPY GAMING!!

I can't believe I only just discovered this site!

Hey RPOL Friends, sorry for disappearing without any warning. I'm sending this quick reply to all my rMail friends as well as the threads I've started here in the GPIA, Beginners, and everywhere else I was posting before I began suffering from one of my migraine-like Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome episodes. Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome (CVS) is a neurological disease that used to be called "abdominal-migraine" because in addition to uncontrollable nausea and vomiting it also shares a lot of typical migraine symptoms like light sensitivity, halos, etc.

This time, I was unfortunately unable to both abort the nausea-stage or terminate the vomiting-stage of CVS with my home medications. I ended up having to go to the ER and was hospitalized upstairs for about a week to stop the uncontrollable vomiting, deal with the extreme amount of pain, begin to tolerate liquid to solid foods without nausea, and get all my electrolytes back to normal levels so my kidneys could do their job once again. When I got to the ER I was pretty close to renal-failure because the constant, uncontrollable vomiting caused my potassium levels to plummet to near-zero levels. This isn't the first time this has happened and it definitely won't be the last.

Thankfully, I was admitted to a different area of the hospital than the many Covid19 patients. Luckily I continually tested negative for the epidemic while hospitalized and after discharge!

I'm out of the woods so to speak, I'm still not feeling very well, but at least I'm back home!  Once I'm finally feeling up to it, I fully intend to get back into developing my Eberron game(s) here on RPOL.

Like I said, I'm doing better now. And my wife and parents and other family members luckily didn't catch the epidemic from taking me to the hospital for my CVS attack. Thank goodness that they're all okay too!

I'm sorry if I worried or disappointed anyone who might have thought I lost interest and just abandoned RPOL. When I'm feeling more up to it, I'll reply with more info pertaining to the game(s) I'd like to start here. Thanks for your understanding!

If you'd like to learn some more about what Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome is, please let me know. I'm happy to explain more about this awful neurological problem I have. Well happy isn't exactly the right word, but you get what I'm trying to say.

TLDR? I unfortunately had to go to the hospital (not due to Covid19 thankfully), but I've been discharged and doing better now. I don't want anyone to think I just disappeared from RPOL without any warning. As my health continues to improve I'm looking forward to continuing to start an Eberron game or two here!  I'm sorry if I made anyone think I just didn't want to continue setting up my Eberron games here on RPOL. I fully intend to pick up where I left off before I was hospitalized during my CVS episode.  Thanks for your understanding!

No worries, Ev-erron.  Real life (and your health) always come first.

One of the advantages of the PbP format is that it adapts incredibly well to being asynchronous.  Some of the best games I have ever played in proceeded very slowly and had intermittent pacing.  Sometimes a month or more would pass with little to no activity.  [Having a core group of dedicated players who knew about/expected the pacing issues ahead of time always helps though.]

As Ski-Bird said things will be here when you feel better.  We all have real lives or we wouldn't be here.  Just take your time and take care of yourself. We will be here when you are ready and as always I am willing to help you as well as I can and so is everyone else.
