Dark Star Trek?

The theme of the latest Star Trek shows has been referred to as "Dark Star Trek." Picard and Discovery are the entries of note.

Might be fun to do a small crew style adventure in this Dark Star Trek style. Not sure on system - possibly d6 Star Wars system?

Dark Star Trek?

A lot of fans are upset by the dark elements of the lastest iterations of Trek.  The odd part is that it's always been there, even from the OG series.  Orion Pirates, slave trade, underground black markets, artefact trade from dead worlds, gladiatorial matches, independent ships and crews making a living on the Final Frontier...

FASA had a campaign setting based on that very premise back in the day called The Triangle.  It was neutral space where the Federation, Klingon and Romulan spheres of interest overlapped and made for a very interesting setting.  I always thought it'd be a great setting to adapt to the Prime Directive game set in the StarFleet Battles universe.

I'm definitely interested in a grittier Trek game.  I've had ideas for them but never had the time to devote to actually running one.

Dark Star Trek?

There had to be a grittier side of ST even in the OG stories.  Human nature is such to almost require it...

This sounds like promising source material for a campaign.

Re: Dark Star Trek?

What ST era were you thinking about for that adventure?

I've always wanted to run a more military, StarFleet Battles/Prime Directive type of game but didn't figure it'd gather much attention or interest.

Re: Dark Star Trek?

I'd be super interested in running it in Star Trek Adventures system (Modiphious one) if people are interested.

In reply to Ghost of Flatwoods (msg # 7):

I have that book and only tried a campaign once, that didn't get very far. I would love an opportunity to get involved again.

Re: Dark Star Trek?

I never ran it, only played it I like it because it allows for lots of interesting teamwork between players. Downside is, I'd need to have at least four to five players to have important roles covered (Captain, Science Officer, Tactical Officer, Engineer and Doctor).

Everyone who's up for it rmail me and I'll think of something. Just tell me your preferred role and era (Enterprise, Discovery, TOS, TNG, Voyager).
