I know that's probably anathema to some but I like the wacky anything-goes potential of rifts...is there anyone out there who agrees enough to run a game?

In reply to JAM2019 (msg # 3):

The backstory to this is that I got to play an adult dragon in a rifts game for like 2 sessions and then the GM literally died and I've been itching to do it again ever since.

We don't know for sure, but we think he did considering last we had heard from him he was in the ICU

But I know that's too much for a lot of GMs, so I'm willing to have lots of RP restrictions or maybe start off as an almost-adult-age hatchling and work towards it.

sorry, just not my flavor of Rifts. no offense, but most people just want to play an adult dragon so they can go around picking fights and destroying things irregardless of the actual story arc that the GM is trying to run.

dude, face it, how do you figure a 600+ year old dragon will get along with a bunch of other PCs? adult dragons are really tough, really powerful, and really self centered. what would you consider a good game for an adult dragon?

That's fair, I was just saying that the reason I wanted to do it wasn't to wreck someone's game, but more because I got to do it for 3 sessions and then life said lolno.

But like, actually, I've had dragons who are honorable and like protecting weak people, and it can work if the other characters are high power too...

It takes a bit to make a high powered game work. Especially in Rifts. And if a character is built just right will make combat seem super easy. And I do mean super easy. Had a 6th level character with 10 actions per combat round.

Sneaky asshole types are the main reason I hate rogue/thief characters.   And if said dragon is from Rifts Earth, s/he is going to be perfectly aware that those pesky human(oids) are perfectly capable of turning him/her into hamburger.

I'd like to show tentative interest in this idea, as I might finally get to play that Cosmo-Knight that I've always wanted to.

One where the other PCs buy into the concept of travelling with a dragon because it's fun for the game, and a GM who provides plots that prove likewise.

ok, so find the PCs here on RPOL, set up a god-powered game, and run it for them. that is, if it so simple to do after all.

In reply to JAM2019 (msg # 21):

Because I've never run a play-by-post Rifts game, nor one of the level being requested, so don't think I'm qualified. However, just because I can't do something doesn't mean I think it can't be done.

Re: Anybody nuts enough to run an anything-goes rifts game?

I've run Rifts with varying degrees of success before, so there's probably a few things that a potential GM would like clarified.

Is there a certain location you have in mind?   Besides the obvious North America on Rifts Earth, there's other parts of Rifts Earth, and the entirety of the Three Galaxies.

Is there a faction you want as allies, or alternately be a part of?   Same question in regards to faction as enemies.

And also, what character level were you aiming for?
