Freeform Post Apocalyptic game (Adult)

I'm in a Post Apocalyptic mood.

I have an idea for a game I want to play in. The idea is that it's 15~20 years after everything collapsed, Rioting, plague and nukes(oh my). The US Shattered and unlike Humpty Dumpty there are no kings men with horses.

The game starts around a settlement in a former open pit rock quarry. There is a nearby city to scavenge and if Civilization should rise again or fall is sort of up to the players.

Well the idea is that things in the US collapsed due to multiple reasons and things are well bad. With the fall of Civilization the US Balkanized There is no United States anymore. As for the rest of the world who knows.

Technology wise things have fallen back in most places by about 100 years. there is no way to get the materials for the manufacture of high tech devices. Of the remaining high tech stuff people scavenge and jury rig things so that such devices remain working.

As far as the characters go that depends on how resourceful they are. I can easily see player characters figure out ways to keep them in food and weapons. Hells the weapons are the easy part. I've got pictures of gunsmiths from Darra Adam Khel making 1980's era firearms with hand tools.

The problem for surviviors is that things like electronics and computers are either scavanged or built by hand without microelectronics. Without a world wide trading and industrial base there is just not the means for modern high tech equipment so such things are valuable.
