Responsive site:  Wasted space on left side

There is a lot of space often going to waste by putting the picture in line witht he Character name instead dropped down below the Name and Bio lines.  Any chance we can get teh pic swumg back below the name and bio liens, or even popped up above them?  I usually identify characters by pic rather than name anyway...

I feel like it's a lot less wasted space than on the old site. At least for me, I'm seeing as much space as the name/bio lines take up that's completely blank on the right-hand side of the portrait image on the old site so it's like <Name/Biolines><Portrait><Blank Space> from the leftmost edge of the Name to where the post itself starts. Over on responsive, there's just <Name/Bio Lines><Portrait> and then it goes into the post itself with only a teeny bit of space after the portrait.

That said, I could get behind the idea of stacking the portraits and the Name/Bio lines, but I think it would look more aesthetically pleasing if you put the image above the name, instead of below, if done that way. Downside to that, though, would be making short posts take up even more vertical space, since even a one-line post takes up as much vertical space as necessary to display the Name/Bio lines...which, come to think of it, is probably why they're side-by-side now.

Responsive site:  Wasted space on left side

Could just be me, but in most games it's rare I write a post that isn't taller than the name/bio lines and picture in height...

Though now that you mention it, yeah, I never noticed the blank space here (I prefer the unResponsive for now, until I can get a colour scheme I preference).  I think it stands out on the Responsive because the avatar and name/bio are inline and not staggered.

Huh.

Responsive site:  Wasted space on left side

This is a **responsive** site layout. That whole block "on the left" moves to "above" the post when the browser window gets narrow enough. In that layout, the character description text content goes to the left, and the image to the right of window, which is (fairly) optimal on that narrower window.
For window size where the character information block is on the left, most of "my" posts would look better with the image vertically in line with the text (above or below the name, or below the rest of the text). However, the majority of the posts I see are much smaller. For those cases, the image beside the text uses the space more efficiently. The post size probably varies dramatically between games, gms, players. It would need some analysis of the typical post sizes (number of lines, which also changes based on windows size and layout factors) to tell what would be 'optimal' space usage most of the time, compared to the range of sizes of the browser window for cases that the layout puts the character information on the left. Enough interacting variables to make that a non-trivial task.
