World Building Game
Okay, the system for this game is one I discovered here on RPoL years ago for a Superhero game. I am adapting it just a bit for my own use. Basically, it is a competitive storytelling system used to arbitrate disputes of any type. Some very few of you out there will recognize it. Most will not. It does depend on a strong writing ability as well as creativity. it also depends on fair and even players more interested in the story than "winning." As such, I will police behavior carefully at first but hope it resolves into a community of players working together more than me, the GM, dictating things. Still, at least at the outset, I will be acting the dictator if necessary.
The game is a world builder. I have created a map and "filled it in" vaguely, but the details are left up to the players. Part of the world building will take place in creating your "race" as you select part of the world to inhabit and define it. However, even this may end up in a arbitration of two races select the same area and define incompatibly.
Each player will be responsible for one race. You will write up your race as your RTJ, this includes various factors such as magic (fine to have none or even use some technology instead), geography, culture, appearance, origins. Now, since the races are basically popping into existence fully formed, we are using the "came from another place" origin for all races except mine. The GMPC race will be the native inhabitants of the world. There is also a hostile NPC races which belongs to me right now but might become communal property if everyone behaves. Anyway, you have to include in your RTj where your race came from, why they migrated, etc.
The game will start after we all get settled and I do a bit of narrative stuff. I have a story arc I will be putting into the world to spur things along and add some drama, but player sparked drama and stories are welcome.
Basically, I am trying to start up a writing collective around a world building situation. Interested? If so, come on over. Feel free to chat me up and ask questions before submitting and RTJ.
I reserve the right to request writing samples.
