IC: One of two D&D5E ideas
I’m interested in running some D&D 5E but I’m not sure which of these two ideas would get more traction.
The first is your classic D&D fun...a see what’s out there sandbox where you are saving villages, delving dungeons, surviving the wilds, and exploring the ancient ruins of lost civilizations. This would be set in the Nentir Vale, the points of light setting from D&D4E. I would stock the area with hooks and villains, clocks and adventures...and it would be up to the players to decide where to go and what to do.
The second is a bit more focused and thematic. It would would start in the city of Port Damali on the Menagerie Coast of Wildemount and we would play through a revised and expanded version of Waterdeep: Dragon Heist. Over the course of the module, characters would join factions, earn renown, and gain standing in their factions.
But, once the main thrust of the module is complete, the game will pivot to espionage, spies, and political intrigue. The characters would be recruited into one (or several) espionage agencies. Think D&D plus spy thrillers by way of the Sandbaggers with a heavy dose of Diplomacy (the board game).
Would there be any interest in either of these games?
