[IC] Masks in a collaboratively written City!

Halcyon City is a major city on the coast of the USA, but what its major features are, what its major heroes are, and what the biggest threats might be, are yet to be seen...

I'm considering running a very collaborative, acutely teenage superhero story set in a city that we will define together. Is this sort of thing something that interests RPOL?

I'm planning to have everyone come up with a neighbourhood, then a specific location within the neighbourhood someone else came up with, and then an NPC tied to the location someone else came up with. After that, we'll make characters and fill out any gaps (for example we'll need a roster of villains and potentially other locations linked to the PCs). Finally we will try to link every character to at least 2 NPCs in the setting, making as few new characters as we can.

If this interests you, let me know! If not, I'll probably write a more traditional game.

This definitely sounds neat. All pbta games have some conceit of communal setting development, but this seems like an interesting and systematic way of doing that. I love teen hero drama, so this would be right up my alley!

Sounds like it could be a real blast to do. I unfortunately am not familiar with Masks (although I believe I have a copy of the main book somewhere in my mess...). But the concept is really good.

That sounds fascinating. Haven't played Masks, but pbta is never too hard
