IC: Fellowship RPG

I've recently obtained and read the four books which compromise the Fellowship RPG (a Powered by the Apocolypse game) and am absolutely blown away by the system and ideas for a game so was wondering if there was any interest from anyone in playing it as I don't know how widely known it is.

For those unfamilliar with it the basic premise is 'classic fantasy' in that there is a group of heroes out to stop a terrible evil but the system is based on the idea of the players having a huge amount of narrative control and the world being built by collaboration. So, for instance, if your character is 'The Elf' you are the last word in what elves are, what they do and how they live in the game world.

I would be absolutely happy to take on any beginners (seems rude not to, being a beginner myself) and would be very happy to get to grips with things as a group. I think they key would be a group where everyone is happy to drive the narrative forward in interesting ways - the system itself is, I think, pretty easily taught.

I'm interested.  I've never played any Powered by the Apocalypse games, but I've played in Fate-based games (also very narrative where the players have a lot of freedom) and I like them a lot in spite of their high mortality rate here.   A quick google turned up this:  https://www.reddit.com/r/rpg/c...llowship_a_tabletop/ with this quote

I suggest if you've never played or run a Powered by the Apocalypse game not starting with running this one, as having a feel for the GM not rolling dice and understanding hard moves will do you wonders. It's still very doable however.

But I'm game if you are.

This is one of those games I've always wanted to play, so I'm interested.

I love PbtA games.  I've played Monsterhearts and I'm about to start a Night Witches game.  What's Fellowship about?

It's a fantasy game (albeit one which can easily slide into sci-fi type elements) which is essentially built around the Lord of the Rings type 'group of mismatched heroes go on a journey to thwart the nefarious plans of an evil overlord' idea. The players have to find a way to steal or destroy the Overlord's sources of power to weaken him enough to defeat him once and for all!

As a system it's heavily based on the idea of players having narrative control. The player who is the Elf/Dwarf/Halfling is the final word on what Elves/Dwarves/Halflings look like, act like, what their civilization is etc. and thus the world is built.

I think it's a really nice way of doing fantasy stuff in PbtA which has a very different feel from Dungeon World.

Besides that, one interesting difference between Fellowship and other PBTA games is that the GM gets a playbook of their own, for the Overlord the Fellowship is battling against. This lets the GM define the Overlord's specific powers, goals, and weaknesses.

Great, that sounds like a fair bit of interest.

I'll try and set something up over the next week or so and pop a link here when it's done.
