Links in Posts

Is anyone else having an issue with adding links in posts? Just had a player try to add one to a post and it would not display properly though she is using the proper coding for it. The links work in some threads, but not others. When posted in some threads it acts like the [ CODE ] tag has been used, but it hasn't.

What we're expecting:
If I Only Had The Words

What we're getting:
<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IQjb9IA2_Co">If I Only Had The Words</a>

rpol help:
The Anchor tag (<a>) is also available for limited use in public forums and by the GMs of games.

As a player, she can't use the anchor tag. She can put the link directly though.

Yeah, we finally figured it out. The issue was she is a GM but was posting under a character that does not have GM access rights.

Poking around at it out of curiosity, it seems to be tied to the Tags that are assigned.

If the tag for an individual/character is GM or NPC, anchor tags work. If it's anything else, it kicks it out as plain text (GM access or no).

Is there a way to link to a certain post within a thread, not just the whole thread in general?  Like, if I want to link to a thread but have the link lead to post #54 in that thread, I'd type...  ?

I worked out this trick in making the Character Sheet Index in Heaven. The gimmick is to reference the entire thread, with the intended post number. You can't just refer to the page number, because that's dynamic.

For instance, the link to the page in Heaven's Character Sheet repository, for the Numenera game, reads as follows:

Numenera Character Sheet:
https://rpol.net/display.cgi?gi=2&ti=21&msgpage=&show=all#65

The fields it uses (after the question mark) are:

gi, the Game Index. When you're reading the game, this number shows up in the URL no matter what page you're on.

ti, the Thread Index. This is specific for each thread within the game.

msgpage, the Message Page. You can probably delete this part.

show=all#[post number], the most critical part. It requires the show=all flag, even if it's only one page worth of posts. This is a safeguard for when (if) the thread folds over to a new page. Immediately afterward, put in a pound sign and the post number (seen as "msg #5" or the like at the top right of the post).

When someone clicks on the link, it will load up that thread of that game, force it to show the entire thread, then jump to the specified post.
