What happens if 2 people edit a character's sheet at about the same time?

Is it overwritten, is the 2nd person prevented from editing because of a lock, is there a warning about overwriting, is there a diff shown when the later edit is saved?

Should the DM just disable editing first before they edit it? What happens if the user already clicked edit but hasn't submitted their changes yet?

If:
- you open the sheet to edit,
- the player opens it
- You save
- He saves
Then it's the same as you having done nothing.

There's no lock, diff or anything (this isn't git ^^)

If you lock, I suppose the player cannot save the sheet even if he opened it before the lock.

some  GMs   will not allow    players to edit thier own sheets.. I'm in a game like that and its  wothless?.." you get  20 gold  and a +1 Dagger"..big deal? i have to wait for the GM to put it in before its official.

 So..if GM  doesn't allow  'user  edit"..you question is moot.

 In my games, the CS is  user edit.. i will PM players  what to add, and changes to be  made  and adds  ect ect.

 Now?  if you have user edit and you bot edit at the same  time, only  the most currant one will 'take'.

 no other players   can mess with a CS.

I think I'll lock it, and maybe not unlock it until the next day. If the player clicked edit before it was locked, then they can probably use at minimum their browser's Back button when they can't save it due it to being locked, and then make a copy of the entire sheet as it was originally + their edits.

This just happened to me.  I had a sheet open and was making edits (I'm the GM).  When I clicked save ... a warning message popped up and let me know that edits had been made to the sheet between me opening it and trying to save it.  It went on to suggest that I review those changes, yadda, yadda.
