The room is cluttered with crude furnishings and the air is hazy with the smoke of a small cooking fire. Dozens of yellowed skulls are suspended from the ceiling by fraying ropes strung through holes punched in the bone. An orc in a ragged black robe looks up from her workbench with her face twisted in an experession of sheer rage! Two other orcs turn and sneer as well.

OOC Initiative!

Landor started to wonder just how many orcs there were down here. There was no time for that as they had new foes to deal with. He grasped his holy symbol and uttered a prayer to Pelor. “Pelor please guide my allies swords, so that justice may be served.”

17:11, Today: Landor Halbrek rolled 18 using 1d20+1.  Initiative .

Standard action: Cast Bless on group
Move action: move further into the room in front of Lyrian.

Gar, seeing the orcs, narrowed his eyes, but once he saw the orc in the robe, his mind became fixated on him. In the past, Gar had bad experiences with magic users, and even though most of his orcish kin hated magic users, his hatred was justified to the point of obsession. The warrior ran in, screaming, swinging his great axe in a wide arc.

Lyrian saw Gar run in, and saw her chance to prove herself.  She dashed in after him, flipping and turning to get behind Gar's foe, hopefully in a good spot to slip a blade between a murderer's ribs!

OOC:  Move and Tumble to flanking position with Gar.  If possible (enough movement left), sneak attack, with pitiful result.

Taking in the sight of another set of orcs, he began spinning his sling and aimed a stone right at the robed orc's forehead, but he didn't enter the room just yet as he knew that he would most likely gett in the way.

The cleric casts his spell.

Perrin uses his sling and hits the orc shaman.

The orcs growl and they charge at the doorway! They raise their greataxes and flank Gar but they miss him.

Tai tumbles into the room, drawing his sword and attacks the orc shaman! His blade takes off the head of the shaman with a single chop!

Gar misses the orc.

Lyrian gets behind the orc and stabs him, killing it.

Lyrian breathes out slowly, very glad they had not let the orc shaman do any tricks.  She hoped the author of the region's recent misery was because of their martial prowess, and not from any tricks, so quickly had their foes fallen.

"That went more swiftly than I had thought to expect," she says, and begins to look through the room and on the bodies for anything important.

"As much as it may pain me, down into the void seems like our next goal," stated Perrin as he took his share of the silver (32 coins) and one of the vials. "Figured that I would take one as well since I am not one to get too close to the targets unless no other choice is available."

Lyrian sighs just a little.  "Well, I have some good silk rope, and I am very good with making knots, so I can at least make certain our descent is easy... as would be our ascent!" she says.  When they get back to the main chamber, Lyrian will break out her rope and make a secure lashing to something sturdy, and knot the rope for easy descent.

Landor put his shield and mace up and grabbed one end of the rope. “I’ll go last and be the anchor in case one of the steps falls away. Gar can hold the other end, so we have a solid anchor on each end. Someone in the middle should hold up a torch.” He walks over to the edge of the rift and waits for the others to start stepping down.

Gar, nodding and placing his axe on his back, nodded at landor wisdom. He grabs one mace and attaches it to his bellt.....he wasn't one o use such weapons, but he wanted to make sure that every option was covered, and he had heard of undead beasts that resisted te edges of blades and axes.

Gar went to the edge and looked down. He turned and looked at the group. "Wait until I reach the bottom, I will check and then call if safe. If I don't call then come slowly. If I yell, don't wait for me." He looks at tai and smiles. You follow the girl and Perrin.....keep our healer safe here "

He then sighs and descends into the darkness

"It seems like Tai thinks that it is safe enough without the rope, but I can act as the torch bearer of sorts," stated Perrin as he pulled out one of the stones that he had for his sling and cast Light on it to create a torch for the trip down.

Lyrian had her hand crossbow knocked and at the ready, and headed down within arm's reach of the rope.  Hopefully all would be well, but a little paranoia and preparation wouldn't hurt anything.  She kept her eyes and ears pricked for danger as they entered the rift...

The narrow crevasse winds down quite a long ways, twisting and turning. The floor has been cut into hundreds of shallow steps but the walls and ceiling are still natural rock. About 60 feet down a rushing stream spills down from a narrow crack to your left and crosses the stairway, dissapearing into a narrow, winding tunnel to your right. THe rill is only about 2 or 3 feat wide. It looks like the group can follow the stream but will have to go underwater, removing any torchlight or keep following the stairs.
