Landor readies his mace and shield. “Shall we trying luring to the surface or skirt it and see what happens?”

Nothing happens. The sound seems to be gone, and the odd stagmite doesn't move. The area is quiet save for the rushing water. Tai keeps his distance from the strange sound and points at the closed doorway.

Rafink notices others seeming to heighten their awareness but can spot no trouble himself.  This is worrisome, however, so he mumbles a quick incantation under his breath and a shimmering field of force flashes around him for a second appearing almost like a translucent set of armor, before fading from view.

The whatever-it-was seemed to have passed, and as long as it stayed off by itself, Lyrian wasn't going to chase it.  She pressed on to the doorway, senses alert for anything else of interest or danger...

Gar, his attention still on the pool near the stalagmight, he walked over with the others, clearly not going over to provoke what it was, but also ready to fight if something came.

The samurai opens the door. It leads down a small area with three jail cells. The first two are open but the last is closed. Tai whistles a few times. All the cells look like typical jail cells. And inside the last looks like a skeletal remains with old armor.

"Someone left behind, poor old soul," Lyrian says.  She moves forward and bends to examine the door.  If locked, which likely it is, she'll try to unlock it so at least the old bones won't be behind bars anymore.  And perhaps someone here could use the armor to protect themselves against the dangers of this place.

Landor eyes the corpse suspiciously. A hand drifts to his holy symbol of Pelor. A prayer is ready on his lips. “Do be careful. I would not put it past this place to have a skeleton suddenly attack us. I am ready to incinerate it with holy light if it comes at us.”

Gar stood and looked at the skeleton passively, he looked at Tai and nodded. The two, though different in styles of fighting, has some similarities. The two were focused, and prefer to say (Or indicate) what they meant....to the point.

He waited for the Woman to open it, ready to crash in if need be.

Lyrian tries again, her fingers betraying her, and curses softly.  Then she takes a few deep breaths and begins once more, this time much more slowly and deliberately, clearly very determined to get this open!

Lyrian laughs.  "Isn't that always the way?  We'll take the keys along anyways; perhaps they open more doors, and if they don't, ah well.  Let me take a look at this poor soul.  With caution," she adds the last with a glance at Landor.  She pokes the bones with her rapier tip, feeling a little foolish, but rather foolish than dead.  If nothing happens, she examines the bones and armor more closely, and gently takes the armor off if it seems to be sound.  If not, she leaves it be.

"Well, perhaps the captors never searched their captive.  Strange."  She holds onto the purse, coin, and key for the moment, and bows her head for a brief moment at the skeleton.  "I hope he's all right, wherever he is."

OOC: If that is all that's in here, Lyrian is ready to press on.

After moving back up to the large crystal room, the group finds a smaller area. Cut into the cavern wall, stands a small but very strong-looking door of iron plate about 5 feet tall and 4 foot wide. Heavy rivits stud its surface, and a tarnished silver rune-Dureddinn's smith mark-gleans on the door's rusted face.

"Now here is what everyone has been looking for!" she says to no one in particular.

Lyrian brandishes the key she had gotten from the skeleton, a likely place for it to go.  She examines the door carefully for any traps the dwarven creators might have left behind, try to see if it's locked, and if it is, try the key in it to unlock it.

The stairs open up into an octagonal chamber about 30' across. The floor is inlaid with cracked, dusty blue tiles and the walls are dressed with polished marble. Large doors of ironbound oak exit to the northwest and northeast. Three cast bronze statues almost 10 feet in height stand on the west, north and east walls. Each representing a dwarven warrior armed for battle, the east and carry axe and shield, and the center one is armed with two axes. The cieling rises in a dome almost 30 feet above the floor. Some where in the distance, the group can hear the faint ringing of hammer and anvil.

Landor nods his head in appreciation of the chamber design and the statues. The statues...he looks them over from where he’s at to see the positioning of the weapons they are wielding it seems a little too convenient that the one in the center would be wielding two axes when the others were axe and shield. The cleric stretches out a hand to place on Lyrian’s shoulder. He whispered low. “The statues look suspect to me. Be careful. Would you mind taking a look at the one to the far left and go clockwise?”

OOC: What is the orientation of the statue weapons? (Are the statues posed as if they could swing at someone going through the doors? I am having a Neverending Story moment where the kid jumps in between the two statues to avoid getting blasted.
