Lyrian gives the dwarf her hand in greeting.  "This place is treacherous, Thoren, though you already know that.  We've found a puddle of water that attacked us, and here there was a rug that tried to smother us to death!  We are trying to be very careful, but this place is full of tricks and traps," she warns their new companion.

Lyrian will go to Tai and look beyond to the next room.  She was ready to test the next door for more treachery...

The orcish barbarian arched his neck with a stretch. "I can vouch for the rug....i broke a few ribs. Oh, and lets not forget the dwarven statue that nearly chopped me in half."

The orc placed a hand on his hip and shook his head. "...good times."

Perhaps he's mocking this odd dwarf, but the kenku actually speaks.

In the same language, he repeats what Thoren said word for word and its pretty close.

"A Kenku I believe"

That just seems really strange. He stands up and waits for the others to get their barings and to see whats next.

“Onward to the next room. Who knows? Maybe we’ll find a Halfling growing out of a pot.”He gives a small laugh and allows the rogue to continue ahead to search for traps.

Thoren takes up the rear guard position, following the others as they leave the room.

Lyrian decides to interject another word of caution as Thoren gets ready to follow them.  "We have had two people die already.  This place is incredibly dangerous, and I don't want any harm to come to my friends. I know you have just woken up from a terrible ordeal, but be on your guard, please."

Looking down the hallway at the many doors, Lyrian points to some in the southeast they haven't touched yet.  "Let's check over there."  If all are in agreement, she will go over and examine them carefully for traps or tricks (or sounds coming from within), and then see if the either are locked.  If all seems well, she will start with the easternmost door to open.

49-Idalla's Den

This room was once the library or study of a scholar. Bookshelves stand against the walls. Several piles of books rest on reading tables in the middle of the room and the room reeks of moldy paper. Two doors exit to the east and the south. A slender woman of medium height and long black hair sits in a chair at the table looking extermely sad. Her clothing looks well worn though it does little to detract from the beauty of her appearance.

Landor finds the whole situation very suspicious and fires up some divine magic to let him see if there is anything magical in the room. “Hello ma’am. You look sad. May I ask what is wrong?”

Cast Detect Magic and looking around the room including at the woman.

Gar was never one for books...he could not read, so his gaze went to the woman. If this complex had shown him one thing it was that nothing was as it seemed.

He readied his axe but made no threatening moves

Lyrian regards the woman with trepidation.  After the puddle and the murderous rug, not to mention the sleeping dwarf, she was getting wary of surprises.  She sidled around to the exit to the east before speaking.  "We mean no harm to those who mean us none," she adds to Landor's greeting.

Jumping up to her feet, the young lady turns towards the group "Please release me from this place, I beg of you. There's a wizard beneath us. He held me captive."

Landor is still looking about the room with his magical vision. Without looking away, he addressed the woman. “We will see what we can do, but for now we need information. Who is this wizard? What is keeping you trapped here instead of just leaving? What is your name?”

He then motions toward the closed door. “There are some magical auras in that area. Four of them close together. Can you check it out once we’re done here, Lyrian?”

Gar, still ready with his axe, sniffs. "You want to leave, go. there's the door." The half orc sounded gruff, but non threatening.

He wasn't sure what to expect

Why don't you just leave the wizards not here. perhaps we could lead you out. after speaking the sturdy bard glances over his shoulder hoping he doesn't see an angry wizard coming at them.

Lyrian nods to Landor, agreeing to be on guard once they're done here.

"Lady, what is your name and how did you come to be here?  Who is this wizard and why did he capture you?" she asks.

"I don't know his name but I know he's below us. He wants to learn about me but not sure why. Perhaps he think I'm a link to everlasting life! Me? No. I'm just a sheepherder." The woman starts to walk towards the door the group entered "I can just leave? Like that? But he will come back. Haven't seen him for a few days but if he comes back..." She seems rather afraid but less now then before probably because of the group that enters before "If you go down, I have to warn you. A dragon's den lies beneath us." And he did mention someone that changes forms is around somewhere. I think he called it a doppleganger?"

Landor shrugs. “Is there a reason why we shouldn’t let you go? I mean you haven’t attacked us or done something bad as far as we know.”

Gar narrows his eyes at what the woman says. He looks at Landor. "what's a dopple-whatit?"

He however looks at the woman with a narrowed gaze. "How do we know your not the shapechanger?"

"How perhaps do I know your not one? Perhaps he mentioned it to keep me in this room. Maybe he's mad. You could take my life. Its all of you against me. But you would have the burden of killing someone who did no harm. I just want to leave. To go be with my sheep, to see my family! To see my daughter...." Tears begin to form.

The barbarian holds up his arms. "I'll not harm ye. if I was to attack anyone it would be protecting my friends or when someone attacks first."

He shrugs. "Was just a question....i know not of shapechangers or such. I'm just a warrior."

Standing there listening ti the conversation Thoren racks his brain trying to remember anything he's heard about doppelgangers.

The problem with Doppelgangers is they can be anyone or any race as long they stay basically the same size, finding one if it's after you could be all most impossible.

"Please, we mean no harm, it's just this place has been full of treachery and we are very wary after a few days of searching through here.  My name is Lyrian.  Please, tell me your name, your daughter's name.  I know you want to get back to them, and I hope we can help you do that.  But first we need to rid this place of its evil.  If the wizard has not given you his name, please tell us what he looks like?  When did he take you from your sheep and family?  Has he done anything magical in your presence?  The dragon below, have you seen it or has the wizard just talked about it?  Can you tell us more about it?  Anything we learn can help us when we face your kidnapper, and give us a chance for surer victory.  For certain we would not want this wizard to go after you again, nor leave a dangerous dragon who might maraud your farm!" Lyrian says, trying to both calm the woman and learn more about what they've walked in to.

The woman shakes her head at all the questions asked "We barely met and you want to know everything? He's a mage or something in that manner. And I did not ask him what he knows as it could provide me a very quick death! I do not know him nor why he took me to this place. He's a old man, his face barely visible but from what I know perhaps he's a doppleganger. All I want is to go home, isn't that enough? He took me here, by some sort of magic. And I have not seen this dragon! He's insane! Why should I speak of my daughter? Or speak of my name? It is Selene. That's all I know! Please let me go! I beg of you!" She move towards the door, seeming to be crying.

Landor walks away clearly over her. “I don’t even care if she is a doppelganger or not. We told her she could leave and didn’t care if she did. Instead of just leaving immediately like any sane person who had been held prisoner, she keeps giving us reasons to question her. To top it all off, she starts crying and acting like we’re the bad guys making her cry.” He turned to her. “Just go and don’t bother letting us know when you eventually stab us in the backs.”

He walked over to the door where the Magic seemed to be coming from. He looked over at the group. “Ready? If anything was on the other side, it surely knows we’re here now.”

The woman stares at Landor "That is not a remark I expect from a good man. Your friend asked me a qnestions or rather questions, and I responded and I get chasticed by you? I am leaving." She turns and steps out and smiles as she does as such. She turns towards them and looks at them "You are all fools! And we will meet again!" Her form changes almost instantly before teleporting herself out!
