Landor will cross the bridge after Gar is safely across. “Well at least we’re moving onward to our goal. I wonder what other surprises await us.”

Between helping out and making it over, the group now stands before a set of double doors which are shut. Tai whistles and kneels down, looking at the doors for a moment then goes to push them open.

(IC) The Stone Tooth-Orc Cave (Area 5)

This chamber is a natural cave with carefully smoothed walls and floor. Wet stone gleams down and you can discern at least four exits leading off into the darkness (one being where you came from). Red coals glow in the darkness of the far right hand passegeway and a crude wooden cage bars the closer right hand passageway. The room is littered with orcish furs, loot and rubbish.

To the south there are a row of tough-hewn sappling trunks that from a crude but servicable cage across the mouth of this small cave. A door locked within a iron padlock secures the room. Inside you make out four filthy prisoners dress in tattered rags, crowding close to the door. Two of them are woman one of which is not moving. A young girl stares at her, crying. The man looks over."Thanks Yondalla! We're saved!"

Gar, grabbing his axe after opening the door, followed the others over the threshold of the door, guarding their back. When he turned and saw the captives, he had a moment of rage wash over him,. seeing the man, the unconscious woman, the girl.

...the girl.

Gar let out a audible sigh as his features transformed from one of anger to pure relief and focus. Without thought, he jogged over to the bars, smiling a toothy smile. He nodded to the man. "Quiet....how many are there?" Before hearing the answer, he knelt to the level of the girl and smiled. "I told you i would keep you safe child."

He looked at the woman, then his friends. "Can you heal the woman?" He stood, clearly not worried about the bars.

The way he held his axe, it looked like he would tear the cage apart.

"It isn't a skill that I possess, and I already used my only potion for such things. Landor, anything that you can do?" The halfling took in the scene that they had stumbled in on, and aside from pondering whether he could melt the lock with some acid he turned his focus on keeping watch over the four points of entry into this room for signs of any orcs that might be lurking around. "Don't suppose one of them could quickly tell us where their captors are?"

Thorin will move over and take a look at the woman. He was not well trained in the healing arts but figured he might could do some good just by seeing what might be wrong with her.

He decides to check the door which is locked, he then pulls out his thieves picks. He'll look over the woman if he succeeds in opening the door.

The lock is removed and the dwarf enters the small area going over to the woman. One of them, a man goes to shake the dwarf's hand before he tends to the woman."They brought her in. Not sure what they did. Is she...."

The other man watches in shock.

The girl starts to cry, hovering over her. She looks at Thorin, eyes narrowed and grabs a rock as if to protect her.

Landor walks into the cell. He holds his hands up in surrender to the little girl. “I am here to help. I wish to use the light of Pelor to heal her. Will you allow me?”He presents his amulet of Pelor as proof. He will go to the woman and heal her if allowed.

Use Touch of healing feat to heal her 6 hp per use until she is at half health.

The rock is thrown at the cleric as he gets too close for comfort. Apparently she doesn't care or perhaps even knows who Pelor is. It misses him and the girl grabs another one, throwing it again but misses."Get away!" She yells. But when she spots Gar, she hesitates.

The cleric attempts to heal the woman but she doesn't move.

He knelt down beside the child, looking at the rock. "You have the spirit of a warrior girl....I always knew that. You have done well in protecting your mother. Let us help now too."

As Landor checks the woman over, he frown deeply. He lays her on her back and closes her eyes. The cleric looks at Gar and shakes his head. He reverently prays over the body of the woman. “Oh great Pelor, a light has been extinguished before its time. I ask that you guide her on her next journey. Let her soul be the light that shines down upon her family for years to come. Let her warmth comfort the faces of her loved ones as they walk in the light.”He pulls out a blanket from his pack and covers the body.

He grabs Gar’s arm with a knowing look. “Keep it together. There will be time for vengeance and it will be had. But right now they need you.”

Gar, not fully comprehending the priests meaning for a moment, his eyes clear as he realizes what he was saying. He holds his hands out to the girl, inviting her into a hug, but he looked at his friends, a grim look on his face.

"I am torn, my new friends. My wisdom says the girl needs to be taken to saftey, but my heart burns to hunt them all down and destroy them."

It is clear he is at a turmoil...his warrior instinct to protect is all that's holding him back from tearing the place apart....though it's barely controlled.

Better to just go while we have the window to do so," commented Perrin. If necessary, they could come back to finish the job should it be deemed absolutely necessary.

The orc looks at the girl, his feelings mirroring her gaze. He manages a weak smile, then looks at the man. "You guard her with your life, and bring the woman back to their farm. Their family showed me kindness when others saw a monster. Keep her safe."

He kneels, looking at the girl. "Those who hurt you, who hurt your mother, will pay. They will pay with blood....pay with their lives. I will visits pain and death on each of them and when I return, I will mourn with you child." Gar's words were full of hatred and anger, aimed at the beasts who did this.

He takes off his curved dagger off his belt, sheath and all, and holds it out for the girl. "I will return for this."

The girl keeps crying and she speaks up."That won't bring her back. I don't care what happens to them. I want my momma." Her plea is heard and she takes the dagger as the three start to head out. They find some furs for warmth.

One of them speaks."We will backtrack, see if we find weapons. She'll be safe. I'm not taking her back to her house. Planning on going back to the village. Safer."

Tai watches the half-orc and girl. He tilts his head, pondering this and then he bows his head to her out of respect.
