(IC) The End or the Beginning?

The guards go in and out, asking Gar for assistance for the larger items. After a few hours, the wagon is full and the guards climb up, making sure the horses are all set. The farmers and the girl of course remains back at the village to no get in the way. The two guards nods their head in thanks. One of them hold out the small doll from the girl to Gar in thanks and wave, heading back to the village leaving the group alone outside the farmhouse and the barn alone with another covered wagon and horses to pull it as well as the goat for the wizard.

(IC) The End or the Beginning?

Gar watched the wagon pull away, holding the orcish doll. He looked at it and spoke. "Let's get these things back to them....our task is almost done."

He looked back at the farmstead he had called home for the past year or so.

"...it's time to move on." he muttered more to himself than anyone

(IC) The End or the Beginning?

Once the wagon is loaded and the farmhouse has been emptied Roywin gets ready to drive it back to the town and finish the task. If noone is driving the wagon she'll help with it, otherwise she'll spend a few seconds focused and then she'll whisper something to the ear of the goat and after what it looks like a weird conversation she hops on the goat and starts riding it. The goat does seem to let her do it.

She goes next to Gar and sees him with the doll and listens to his words, but doesn't make the connection.
"Everything alright young man?"
And she keeps moving to get to the wagon.

OOC: Use talk to animals with the goat.

Gar snaps from his thoughts at the gnome's words and manages an orcish smile. "This family took me in during a dark time. When most saw an orcish brute, they saw a person needing help. They gave me a roof, food and purpose. The daughter feared me, at first..." Gar held up the doll of the orc.

"....but we became close. She was my best friend, and i her protector. Her mother made this toy as a reminder of me." He sighed, looking in the distance. "When the farm was attacked, her and her mother were taken, and i was injured. I joined them to find them, my soul purpose to rescue them. Now that they are safe, it seems i have a new purpose."

The half orc smiled at the gnome. "I guess i'm going to miss these times....and these people who accepted me as family."

The gnome gives him a warm smile
"You are a fortunate young man. It is a luxury to leave and still have a place to call home, where people love you and hope for your return"
Then before continuing the path riding her goat finishes with
"It is a noble motivation for completing whatever mission we encounter to want to come back with your family. So be proud of it. And we still have time for you to say goodbye properly to that little girl before departing."
And winks.

A day passes by uneventifully, and night passes. Nothing creeps out. Its peaceful. The road crests along a small rise with a dusty grove.

The group gathers up and heads to Drellin's Ferry. Its quiet as the group moves down a decent sized path. About 50-60 feet away, a small farmhouse is visible with a small wall but its covered in woodlands. Tai sits on the back, eyes closed with hands over his lap seeming to be meditating.

The group keeps moving, about 15' down the path.

Landor pulls gently on the reins and brings the wagon to a halt. “Anybody besides me see that ambush up ahead in the bushes on either side of the road? Let’s make it obvious we’re not gonna let that happen.”He grabbed his mace and shield before hopping off and standing in front of the wagon looking at the bushes.

Roywin is petting her goat while she rides her, not paying much attention to her surroundings. Then Landor speaks.

"Oh dear, I wasn't paying attention. Where do you say there are some gentlemen waiting for us?

She stops petting Carb and gets more focused on the road. Moves closer to the cleric in the front of the group.

"Should we take a diversion? Maybe we can ask them politely from here to step in the road and leave. No need to get in trouble. If we intend to go through there unannounced we should get ready, don't you think so? and smiles.

She takes her crossbow and gets ready just in case.

Gar, walking beside the cart, saw the movement, and as Landor spoke, already was preparing. His new double axe sitting just over the lip of the cart within grasping range, he took the longbow from his back, and drew a arrow from the quiver.

He looks at the gnome. "They will not just leave us be...this stuff may be of little value to most  but they could still live off it for a while."

He looked at Landor. "You and I focus on tbe left.  Tai, Roywin and Lyrian the right."

He took a breath and drew his arrow, then called out.

"Come out from hiding...we see you, or so help me, the next thing you hear is the thud of my arrow hitting your skull!"
