Re: Wolf Midwife? lol

She has only been pregnat for a week. So probably no nausea or morning sickness (not everyone gets it-my sister didn't), not everyone gets food cravings, and how would I even do any of the above? Its been a week and I'm a guy :) Plus it would get in the way of things drastically if I did. Maybe she's 'magically' pregnant. Who knows.

Plus Its pretty normal a animal would know ahead of time.

In reply to Dungeon Master (msg # 1039):

You're right that there are many women who have few or even none of the usual early symptoms of pregnancy. So maybe Cumarinda is just one of the lucky ones?

Also agreed that most animals, especially those with a sensitive nose, would know before a nose-blind human. :)

Oh, and another important reason she would be looking for a midwife would be advice on what to do. She has never been pregnant before and being raised an orphan in a temple, Cumarinda has never been taught parenting. She's a bit worried despite appearances.

Re: Wolf Midwife

GM, your call on what standard protocol is for the care of pregnancy and child bearing in the world we're sharing. Given that Cumarinda is a temple raised and trained in the Heal skill, I'm currently presuming that either she's been trained on prenatal care or would have known someone who was like a midwife.

Just looking for some guidance here. I'm getting the impression that you (GM) think that she's too early in her pregnancy to be looking for help. If that is the case in the game world, let me know.

Otherwise, I'm going to assume that Cumarinda should be looking for either a Doctor, Healer, or Midwife. Which one of those should a newly pregnant woman be looking to for advice?

I'm also presuming that you don't want to deal with the more intimate and/or medical aspects of Cumarinda's situation 'on camera'. But I could be wrong...

Re: Wolf Midwife

Well can't use the heal skill on yourself in that area. Right now, your fine. Can fight, cast spells, ect. I got a few things I got planned but its up to the PC when I'll have them acted out. So yeah going to the Temple for aid is a good thing. Also, not having Fenris around and not wed could be a interesting thing to act out. Looking for a doctor, midwif and/or a healer could be a beneficial thing so going to the Temple is a good thing. The part for the intimate thing could be a PM later on but for now doing things to take care of the kid (Like Faolan pushing for her to have no alchohol) is good. Not all of the Temple people would side with Cumandria but some will. It really depends on who is in charge.

Use of Euphemisms for Character Classes

So while posting IC, I try to avoid using the OOC names for the character classes, except when they are so common as to be close to generic. I think that calling someone a rogue is generally a comment about their behavior/personality/etc., not as a shortcut way of describing their skills. Of course, in places where there are known thieves' guilds, calling someone a thief is definitely different from calling them a rogue.

I'm curious about everyone's opinions on this, since I'd like to know if it is likely that a PC or NPC is going to refer to people by their IC profession or their OOC class when speaking in IC.

Certainly, I expect that descriptions and OOC comments will refer to characters by their class.

Use of Euphemisms for Character Classes

Honestly I keep it a secret on classes for NPCs even the ones known to the group besides Lars. Obviously he's a wizard, and a powerful one. Honestly no PC has any clue what other NPCs classes are unless its obvious. I don't believe I have done this before-calling someone by their classes. Some may take it wrong, some might just ignore it. I don't think I had any NPC openly state what their 'classes' are and I don't really see its importance.

Calling someone a rogue could mean several different things. Some may view it as 'You called me a thief'. Rogues cover a vast array of different things. Same as a cleric, druid, ect.

I mean being a fighter doesn't really do much-what type of fighter? Hard to tell. Cleric? All clerics have a vast different abilities ect.

Not really sure where this comment is coming from Cumandria...? Rather curious.

For example: Does anyone know what Grog's class is? Waitress? What the captain's class is? I really don't like revealing it as people might view it as 'I don't want to fight him. He's a wizard/sorcerer/ect.' Keeping it a secret can be a good thing :)

Obviously, Faolan is a Druid. Fenris was a Barbarian. Cumandria is a Cleric. Zhera is a Rogue. I don't think I have done it at all. You have actually Cumandria.

Anyways got a 2nd interview tommorow. Think I got the job, meeting the other employees.

Re:  Use of Euphemisms for Character Classes

Okay, so let me start by saying that I (player) didn't intend my attempt to open this discussion as a comment or criticism on the current or past posts of the players, past or present, or the GM.

Just something I became curious about during the process of creating an IC post for Cumarinda. On occasions, I have to remember that while she is in game terms, a cleric, she doesn't think of herself in those terms.

For the record, let me state again that my initial post was created to express curiosity and create discussion, not to express anything negative.

BTW, I am thoroughly enjoying our game, I wish more players would enjoy it with us. :)

And I hope that you got the job DM and I hope you enjoyed meeting your future co-workers. Quapla!

Well your still here and I like you so its all good. Just thought it was a odd question is all :) I wasn't sure where the comment came from, so I felt I had to 'defend' myself in a positive way.

Tempted to make a character that mocks everyone.

And the interview got change to tommorow. GRRR!! lol.

2nd interview went really well. He'll let me know in a few hours but I got along with the other employees. Covers health insurance, I'll get a new cadd machine...

Don't want to jinx it though but think I got a high chance of getting a job that's like 5 min away!
