Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The dwarf moves about and oddly finds a old doorway behind a pile of barrels. Is it a secret door? Probably not but he did find it!

Cumarinda looks around at the remaining barrels and bottles curiously. She stops when Brankx reveals the hidden doorway. "Hmmm. could that be more trouble? Pelor be praised, I think we need to look there anyway."

Brankx, surprised himself with the find, shrugged. "If those water demons hired these rat people, they had to come in and outa somewhere. Either way, let's check it out."

Ballast nods in agreement and goes to try the door, giving it a good shove if it seems stuck.  They were going to get to the bottom (or back) of this one way or another!

The door opens and leads downwards sharply. Fenris grunts and decides to follow the warforged.  Its a sharp angle, but the barbarian is able to keep moving as well as the others that follow. There is little light as well.

Time passes and the corridor seems to go on forever. The group stops as they pass a door that is closed but it seems to have a light coming out from underneath it. Fenris waits and looks at the others and then further down the corridor into the darkness. The door itself looks old and worn down.

Ballast signals to the others, one... two... on three he opens the door (or bashes it, if it's locked), eager to catch whoever is using this strangely-placed room!

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The door is open and inside are several barrels and baskets looking like they were thrown inside. Its a small room, about twenty by twenty and if moves around be a decent place to sit. Theres nothing important in the room besides this and it looks rather old.

Brankx looks at the rooms and sniffs. The age of the room makes him suspicious, and he looks at the others. "Smells old and stuffy here....should we look anyway?"

"I think we shouldn't leave any door behind us unexplored. That way, we reduce the chance that something will catch us off-guard from behind." she noted with a smile as she began to look over the room.

The dwarf nods, entering the room. He looks around, moving things around with a grunt, but seems like he was struggling.  When a barrel rolled on a toe, the dwarf started swaring in dwarvish. "Damn wish that rogue hadn't disappeared on us....he's more suited to this that i. I'm a Mage!"

He grumbled as he left the room.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The dwarf doesn't find anything and the elf seems aggrivated by the cleric. He grunts "No rest." He stands in the doorway, watching the hall with his sword out. The elf watches the dwarf turn to leave the storage area and he glances at the warforged and human  and the dwarf probably ponders what caused the light but its gone now. Odd.

Further down the corrider it curves and goes downwards to a door slightly open. Once open its another storage room. Of course. But the room feels odd. Colder.

OOC
My bad forgot about the light, was supposed to be dark and gloomy but eh.

listen, search and spots needed

Ballast doesn't worry as much about the cold as others, and enters the room cautiously.  Perhaps something here leads to the tombs they had explored?  Or to some other place the sea devils found important.  He gestures the others in as he looks about.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Brankx sands in the door, the cold making him hesitate, as he looks around, his eyes and ears sharp for what is different in this room.

Brankx smiles as he moves forward, seeing the source of the difference in the temperature..a hidden waterway in the far corner of the room. The dwarf looks at the construction with a sniff. "Not an old entrance...this is but a new construction, a few months at most."

he looks at the others. "Wish i could breathe underwater....make things better to search there."

Quickly joining the others, Cumarinda shivers as they enter the clammy storage room. "Well the waterway would explain where the sea devils are coming from."

Perceiving nothing more unusual about the room than had been pointed out by the others, she listened to their words (and grunts) and then slowly drew her blessed longsword. "I pray that great Pelor has seen fit to imbue this sword with divine radiance enough to shed light upon the darkness that we find ahead of us."

Brankx looks down the hole with a sniff. "I don't think it's a great idea to go down there alone big guy....i don't doubt ye skills, i just be wary of those damn water demons sneaking up on ye. I can cast a spell that lights a single item, but the issue is time and th' fact we can't back ye up."

"Or we could find or fashion something to block it off.  That could be simplest if we wish to disrupt them.  For the time being, we could place things about the opening that would make a racket if pushed through; then we could finish searching the rest of this place while having a warning if a sea devil surfaced and tried to come after us," Ballast suggests.  "Fenris, we don't know how far this tunnel goes; I would not see you drown in exploring it."

Shaking his head as if not agreeing, the barbarian growls and goes over to the wall. He stares at the warforged, then looks at all the broken bottles, barrels and well bags thrown about.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

After a moment of thought and seeing to come to some kind of decision the young cleric speaks, "I think its best that we somehow determine how long and far that water tunnel goes.

Ballast, why don't you take the light from Brankx and follow the tunnel until you find one of three things, a place where the rest of us can breathe, a sea devil coming this way, or the magic of the light fading. Once you have found any one of these three, you come back to us and report. "

She looks around at the rest of the party,"I don't want to risk anyone drowning when we don't have to. While Ballast goes searching, the rest of us will guard his back  here."

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Brankx thought ballast going down on his own was a bad idea, but the clerics reasoning was sound....the sea devils were sneaky and the group needed every advantage.

Brankx looked around and smiled, walking up to ballast, he cast a simple light spell on his shield.

"This way if they sneak up on ye, you'll be ready and still have light."
