Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Catching only half of what was said, he bites into a squirrel. He spits at the ground as a small bone is shot at the ground. Fenris snorts, taking another bite as he sits next to the cleric <green>"I'm no divine beast..."</good> He seems rather insulted. Good ol' barbarian. Well he is a beast in combat. And he looks at the cleric, tilting his head.

Everyone else eats and drinks, the warforged oiling his joints in the mean time. Fenris stands up, eyes narrowed as he looks out over the winter wonderland. He pulls out his sword, holding it in two hands. The dwarf looks around as well and he spots something as well.

The cleric and fighter hear something as well. Growls coming from all directions.

As fenris stands and draws his sword, the dwarf looks out into the wild with a frown. Grabbing his staff he looked at the others. "Get to ye feet....we're surrounded."

His eyes narrow as he looks at the darkness. "White wolves....three of em at least."

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Cumarinda smiles at Fenris and nods, “No, you are not a divine beast. Nor do you come from a spell. I was not speaking of you, Beloved. You are my favorite elf barbarian.” When she hears the growls, she quickly stands up just in time to hear Brankx speak of white wolves.

Speaking tersely she says, “Ballast, Fenris, and myself  should stand with our backs to each other and Brankx standing in the center so none of us get caught from behind. I'm going to call for a blessing.” She carefully looks around while casting a short, quick spell.

OOC:
She will look to see the wolves while making sure that the three weapon users are in a triangle facing outwards around Brankx. Once they are in position, she will cast Bless.

The fighter stands up, holding his throwing hammer and shield. He nods.

Brankx readies himself, probably standing in the middle.

The wolves circle around getting closer about twenty feet away. They circle around, growling.

Fenris grips his sword, double-handed.

The cleric stands there, readying herself in a circular motion and casts her spell, filling the group with holy light temporarily.

Brankx, in the middle of the group, narrowed his eyes at the wolves surrounding the group. The dwarf was concerned that for the wolves he saw, there were some they could not.

Chanting in his dwarven language, he made a chopping motion as a light tear formed where three beasts came through, furry animal with a squat, powerful body with long claws standing 2 to 3 feet long and weighing about 30 pounds.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The wizard conjures up the celestial badgers.

The warforged launches his returning hammer but misses, leaving him unarmed.
*Next round it comes back.

The wolves circle the seven of them.

All of the wolves goes after the celestial badgers. Two of the wolves miss but the last rips into one of the badgers and throws it aside. It poofs out. They growl at the badgers and party.

Fenris grips his sword and slams the blade against the back of the wolf. It howls as its backend is torn from the rest of its body and it falls to the ground, apparently dead.

Cumarinda screams in chilled agony as the ice shards pierce through her clothing, armor and shield. Still screaming she shouts to the others, “Finish that last wolf then come and take this one!”  She turns to the huge white wolf and shouts while drawing her sword, “YOU! WOLF! Run away now, or we will slay you and clothe our children in your fur!” She stares into its eyes with a deadly gaze she learned from Fenris as she awaits its next move.

OOC
Cumarinda Imbrex rolled 9 using 1d20+2. Reflex save.

If the wolf does anything but run away, she will attack with her saved action.

Brankx, watching the wolves closely, saw the change in the wolf's demeanour, and widened his eyes. "Oh, damnit!" he muttered as he scrambled out of the way.

As he turned, he held his hand out, muttering in dwarvish, three bolts of energy flying from his hand. The three separate and almost circle the wolf, only to focus on it, slamming it at three different angles.

"Eat that ye oversized puppy"

He opened his eyes as he remembered the wand he was gifted, and cursed. "Shoulda tested th' wand."

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The wolf takes off, fear hitting it.

Gripping his sword double-handed, the barbarian lets the rage fill him. He steps forwards and the creature growls at the group. Fenris does the same thing towards the beast. He swings the sword at a arc, and the blow rips into the wolf. Blood and gore fly out of its mouth and now largely open face. It turns to look at Fenris and he shoves the sword in a upwards motion though its jaw and into its skull. Nothing comes from it as it collapses to the ground.

Fenris grips his sword and yanks it out. He stares at the wolf, gripping the weapon. Glancing around he doesn't see any other enemies. The man looks at the others, growling. It seems the 'beast' took him over but he slowly calms down, moving around the area like a tense cat. He's got ice caked onto his chest and torso as well and he's covered in snow.

Cumarinda slowly approaches the iced barbarian as his reason begins to return, “Fenris beloved, you struck that monster wolf down as the true warrior you are. Now, it's time to calm down and let me tend to your wounds.” she explains as she caresses him gently, occasionally shaking off the aftereffects of the wolf's ice breath.

While examining Fenris' wounds she looks to Ballast and Brankx and adds gratefully, “Thank you Brankx and Ballast for timely throws of your hammer and the spells which brought us help I'm sure that the other three wolves would've tried to take more bites from each of us. If you can be patient for jut a moment, I'll come to tend to any of your wounds.”

The barbarian turns from the wizard and clutches the clerics her hands. His body is almost ice-like but he seems fine-least for Fenris. Bits of ice are sunk into him but they don't seem to bother the elf. He just snaps them off, feeling no pain but they obviously hurt. He's tough. The elf kneels down, staring at the wolf bodies. His breath comes out in slow puffs.

Cumarinda examines each of the party members for wounds and other forms of damage from the battle. She will make use of her basic healing skill to remove ice shards and ensure that each of them will recover. Standing over the fallen body of the winter wolf she says, “After Fenris and I take what useful fur and food from these wolves, we will bury what's left, and finish our rest tonight. We need to be fully healthy and well rested when we continue our journey.” she pauses to look at the others before continuing, “Unless someone has a better idea, I recall a tasty recipe for wolf stew I can make later.”

The barbarian seems hesitant about getting the wolf meat as they got enough food. His eyes narrow at the winter wolf and his hands go to each of them, lowering his head. Fenris stands up, breathing heavily from the snow "Sleep tonight. Travel tommorow. Rest." His voice is deep, and he waits to see if anyone else argues with him. Kneeling down, he pulls out his sword and starts to cleave into it slowly and carefully.

She turns to Ballast, "Thank you for keeping watch over us, my friend. Those of us who do have to sleep will need all the rest we can get."

With that she burrows into the pile of furs, blankets and other bedding she shares with Fenris.

Lars casts a spell, and within moments they arrive in his home in Korthos. The man sits down at the table, watching the three of them. He looks tired "I saw the mountain fall. And there is three of you. Where is the fourth?" Slowly, he presses his hands together upon the table and catches the teary eyes cleric and the normal smile has faded that she seems to alway had. He sighs deeply "So he was killed." He rubs his chin."I am sorry for your loss, truly. If you need to speak in private..." The wizard rests his hands upon the table as if unsure of what he would say. "Was the Flayer and dragon defeated? The magic orbs linger and the village is defended once more. Stronger them it once was but there was more to it. Something else yet I am unsure of what it was." He stands up and walks over to a side table, pouring something into a cup "Your safe now."The stern look Lars always had has not gone. Old and stubborn but powerful "I will speak to the Mayor about what happened unless you wish to."

With all that has happened, the dwarf is silent. Perhaps something is bothering him but he lets the cleric talk to Lars but does ask for him to take Brankx as a apprentice. Lars seems hestitant about it, rubbing his chin but does agree. Brankx turns and walks up after bidding the warforged and human a goodbye for now. Silence fills the area as he looks at Cumandria and Ballest, waiting.

With her smile still subdued she adds, "We saw the dragon escape and fly north, but the mind flayer, sahuagin and others all were still under the mountain as it fell. As for my beloved Feris, he is possibly still alive under there. Lars, neither I nor Brankx have the knowledge of how we might discover for sure if Fenris is still there." The wizard watches Cumarinda as she spins the tale of what had occured. He leans forward, glancing at the warforged "Would you mind providing us privacy?" The warforged nods and walksout. His eyes narrow, hands resting upon the table "I may have a way. Do you have anything from him? A gift?" The mages eyes close for a moment and he mutters something "It does help I have met him. So the item would be good but not neccassary. It is a spell of some power. But I will cast it." Moving to take her hands "Close your eyes. Focus on Fenris." He casts the spell and nothing happens. Another moment. A arcane pull then nothing. His eyes open and his head tilts as he stares at her. Almost as if in shock. He slowly pulls his hands back. No words, almost as if pondering what he saw. For some time he doesn't know what to say. He stands up and goes over the window "Interesting."
