Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Fin allowed the cleric to pull him back into the room he had just searched.  He watched Cumarinda and Brankx sit on the benches, but otherwise remained quiet and still.  He did not want to interrupt the silence with unnecessary talking.  Instead, he looked at Fenris and Ballast to see what they were doing.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Nothing happens within the room. No one seems to feel off. Fenris grumbles at times, and leans against the wall near the door. It just seems like a meditation room. The blue and red glowing lights don't dim or grow brighter.

Cumarinda stands up, stretched out her arms and gives off a huge breathy yawn. Looking around at the other members of the party, she smiles broadly while asking, "Is everyone rested? Is anyone injured?"

Ballast had felt nothing in particular, but it had been pleasantly quiet in the room, and no odd sounds had occurred.  At least they knew the odd sounds heard above didn't come from this room.

"Not injured, and rest is not needed, but it was a nice time of quiet," Ballast says politely.  "Do we want to try the magical door, or the stairs next?"

Brankx was happy for te discussion in the room, and stood up. "Like I said, not me kind o' thing.....nice enough place though. By me nature, me mind can't quiet easily....part o' what makes me a good magus." The dwarf shrugs and smiles. "No injuries. Could use time to prepare some of the spells I used on the fish head, but when we rest for the night, I can do that."

He looked at the warforged, and shrugged. "If we tackle th' magic door, then we may need to rest anyway while I ponder out the door. The stairs would be th' easiest option to move on, but like I said, if we rest, I need some time for spells."

Fin piped in and said, "The quiet time was very refreshing, but if it's all the same to everyone I'd be in favor of resting here.  Quite frankly, it's been a long day all around and a little sleep would be welcome at this point."

Ballast shrugged.  "If you must sleep, then I will guard you, wherever you decide to rest.  I would like to examine the stairs and where they go, to be certain we are not missing an obvious enemy before retreating."

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Cumarinda quietly laughed, "It seems that a break is required by one of us. I'm sure that with the door closed, we are safe. I think that we can each find something to do while some of us sleep, pray, or read."

While she thought about sleeping herself she remembered that she really didn't know these men well and that one of them had taken a liberty with her. The fact that she didn't respond with immediate retribution would be taken by many men as a sign of weakness. Especially by rough types of men, barbarians.

Glancing over towards Fenris she adds, "I might rest myself but I remind you all that while I sleep outside my armor and vestments, I am still powerful and protected by the Great God Pelor "

The barbarian grunts, crossing his rather big arms. He snorts and continues standing near the doorway wondering why everyone wants to sleep. He turns towards the door and opens it. Glancing now towards the warforged, he motions for him to follow.

Ballast goes to join the barbarian - trekking through this underground warren, though not without peril, was far better than trying to grope his way to shore along the sea floor.  He welcomed the change in venue and for the exercise of his talents.  He nods at Fenris and holds his trident at the ready.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Thankful the group had consented to resting, Fin shrugged both shoulders and let the worn leather backpack he carried fall to the ground.  Finding a wall to sit next to, he leaned against it and dug into his pack looking for a bite to eat.

Chewing on a piece of dried meat jerky, he watched Cumarinda with curiosity as she offered a stern warning to Fenris.  He was still unsure what to make of the priestess having only known her a short time.  Her smile was a delight to behold, but disappeared with rapidity when she felt crossed or threatened.  Not surprising, he thought as he took a drink from his waterskin, here I am thinking about how short of a time I have known her and yet forgetting she has known all of us for that equally short time.  She's only a single new person to each of us, we're a hodgepodge of four unknowns to her.  Growing up in the cosmopolitan environment of Sharn had given the rogue many first hand lessons in not judging people too quickly.  Words and appearances could be quite deceiving, it was truly actions that counted.

Seeing Ballast was on watch, Fin drew a deep breath before a yawn escaped his lips.  "Nothing too long, mind you," he said sleepily to no one in particular as his eyelids grew heavy, "just a quick nap and then we're back at it."

Meditation Room (Fin/Cumandria/Brankx):
The dwarf relaxes and focuses on one of the pillars. Nothing happens. It just seems like a relaxing place. Fin slowly falls asleep.

Elsewhere (Fenris/Ballast):
Four coffins line the walls, all are closed and held upright. There is gate, closed with a lever nearbye. A door rests against the wall, closed.

Ballast looks at the coffins, then over at Fenris.  "Disturb the dead or disturb one of the doors?  I want to see if the coffins have been disturbed, at least."  Ballast will draw closer to the coffins to see if they look to have been recently opened, or are stained or marked with anything that might indicate someone has been meddling with them.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

True to her word, Cumarinda removes her armor and priestly garb folding them neatly before pulling out a blanket and laying down to rest. After a short rest, she awakens, stretches, and then begins a series of quiet prayers.

Her prayers over, she washes her face and puts back on her armor and vestments, packing her bedding back into her backpack.

Fully packed and clean, she asks, "Is everyone ready to continue?"

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

After a period of fitful sleep, his dreams plagued by marauding white dragons, disapproving sun gods with stern warnings and hissing sahuagin priests, Fin reluctantly opened his eyes.  Nope, you're still not on the streets and bridges of Sharn, Fin my boy, he thought to himself as he struggled to sit upright.

He rubbed his neck and decided that perhaps using his backpack as a pillow might not have been one of his better life choices.  He blinked a couple of times as his vision came into better focus.  It appeared that it was only him and the spellcasters in the room.  Pouring a bit of water from his skin into one hand, the rogue splashed it on his face and came fully awake.

He looked at both Brankx and Cumarinda, who each appeared to have been awake longer than himself. Standing, he stretched before bending to pick up his back. "Not exactly the most luxurious accommodations, but the rest was much needed.  Right, so I suppose we'd best be getting on with having a look around," he said as he shouldered his backpack.  "Anyone know where the muscle ran off to?" he asked with a weak smile.

the dwarf made for the door and listened in the hall for any signs of fenris or ballast

The fire-haired cleric shook her head and addressed the others, "Well the barbarian might be an uncouth fool and the other almost a golem but they are with us and we will need their help. If they don't need ours now they will need it soon."

While heading for the door she adds, "I agree that we should take a look outside and see if we can discover which way the others went."

He however walked out listening and looking for signs of the two

Coming around the corner is the barbarian and the fighter. Ballest looks slightly hurt, dragging a chest behind him. Fenris goes to help him out, grunting and helps him grab the side of the chest. The elf doesn't go to open it and motions for the rogue to see if its still trapped.

The dwarf sees the two dragging the chest, and ballast's damage, and he looked crestfallen. He slams the butt of his staff on the ground. "Damn Ye boys....why didn't Ye call if Ye found some fun!"

He looked at the chest, then Fenris. "Guess Ye do Ye thing boy."

Cumarinda steps forward, "Wait, we need to tend to the wounded before anyone takes another risk," she declared as she approached the two returning fighters.

After they put the chest down, she motioned them aside addressing Fenris while looking over the wounds taken by the warforged. "After I'm done with this one, Fenris, you best be ready for my full attention... to any wounds you might have."

With a slight, swift, prayer, her holy symbol glows softly with a yellow light. The same light glows from her hands as they rest on Ballast's wounds.

OOC: She casts cure minor wounds which for her heals 4 hp damage.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

"Thank you, healer.  We went up the stairs and found four upright coffins.  The bodies were intact, but it seemed as if someone had rifled their clothes.  There was a room with an open grate, a mask on the wall, and a chest.  When we went inside the room, and I disturbed the chest, the mask squirted acid on me, and the grate dropped.  The handle to release it was out of the reach of arms, but not of my trident, as Fenris found.  So the mask is likely part of a trap, though perhaps Fin could extract some use out of it.  As for the chest, we brought it for everyone's interest," Ballast says, summarizing their little jaunt.

Fin nodded at the dwarf and started for the chest, stopping at Cumarinda's request.  When she had finished her healing prayers, the rogue knelt down and began a careful inspection.

09:15, Today: Fin rolled 12 using 1d20+6.  Search chest for traps.

Standing, Fin looked back at Ballast and Fenris.  "Sounds like the two of you were quite productive," he said.  "Your room would definitely be worth taking a look at once we're done here.  The chest," Fin gestured to the box sitting on the ground, "is locked."
