Brankx, Clearly confused by more of the Sahugain presence in the crypt, was put off only a moment....long enough for the others to react. The dwarf mentally berated himself....such delays could cost himself (or one of his friends) their lives.

The dwarf, staff in hand, slams the butt on the ground, and holding a hand upright, begins chanting in a form of the dwarven language. Within moments, a glowing force of arcane energy floats above his hand, and with an indication, he sends the force, spliting into two glowing missiles, unnervingly hitting one of them in the chest and side. The dwarf couldn't help but smile at the smoldering burn marks they caused

The rogue's eyes narrowed as he assessed their predicament.  He wanted to make sure his ranged attacks missed Ballast and Fenris.  Fin drew a second arrow and let it fly against the same target as the first.

Seeing her ally hurt, Cumarinda steps forward and offers a quick prayer to heal the barbarian's wounds. "If you keep getting hurt like this some might think you're trying to get my attention, Fenris." she says in a less than serious voice.

She casts Cure Minor Wounds to heal 4 HP damage.

One of the enemies misses with his trident and stumbles around. The other hits the barbarian with his weapon, and rips into him.
Fenris: Take 17 Damage

Fin fires and hits his mark but it keeps standing.

Cumarinda heals Fenris who grins at her!

Ballast rips into the foe killing it!

The mage uses his magic, firing at the enemy hurting it.

Fenris attacks again! It howls and hits the head of the sahuagain, killing it!

Shaking her head, Cumarinda will linger at Fenris' side bringing him back to full health with multiple uses of her minor healing spell. Looking around at the rest of the party she will ask, "Is there anyone else who needs their wounds to be healed by Pelor's warm light?"

The dwarf sighed at the fall of the enemies. He sighed with a scowl. "One water demon in a earth tomb was unusual, but a second group, with two of 'em, isn't something to ignore. They are here fer a reason."

The dwarf spreads out and searches the area.

Ballast cleans the tines of his trident and grounds it, thinking out loud.  "If they are raising the dead, perhaps there are certain kinds of dead which are better to raise?  That these bodies were right for that attempt, but the four we found upright in the corridors were not?  Is there something that makes these bodies different than the others we found?  Are they a different race, or wore a different holy symbol, or were buried in a different way?  Or is it just that these bodies were in rooms, and so more private for the sea devils' rites?"

The rogue watched with amusement as the dwarf shuffled around the area looking for anything which might offer some sort of clue to what was going on in this tomb.  Fin finally chuckled and followed behind Brankx doing his own search, in the event the wizard had missed something.  He paid particular attention to the bodies, both of the sahuagin as well as those bodies in which the intruders had shown interest.

The rogue finds nothing of use besides two tridents armed by the enemies. Inside, there is a dead body, not recent. It has the same name as the first one they found. Upon the body it has a cloak and a belt as well as a stone similar to the first but this one has a butterfly upon it.

"Not much here," Fin said once he had finished with the bodies.  He walked over to Cumarinda with the few items he had found.  "I left the tridents on the ground where they were dropped," he indicated the fallen sahuagin with a tilt of this head, "otherwise, this cloak and this belt might hold some valuable enchantment and would at least be worth checking."  He sat the two articles of clothing on the floor.

"And then there's this," the rogue held up the butterfly plaque.  "Looks awfully similar to the spider plaque from inside the coffin of Sir Balus Henton," he said with a wry grin, "but who can say if they're connected?"

Brankx looked at the plaque, more interested in it that the other items. Given the spider plaque and the possibility they were keys, he turned it over. "Keep th' items close.....I'll check them when I can. Keep these...." Holding the plaques. ".... safe. I suspect they may be keys to th' wall back there."

He looked at balayst with a nod. "Let's make sure all passages are clear before I test me theory on th' wall....don't want any of those fishy bastards and their skeleton pets sneaking up on us."

He looks at the others. "I'd like one more look around th' room before we move on. Fin....Ye have good eye for things out of th' ordinary....you search that room. Cumarinda....I want Ye to look by me side....Ye have more religious know how than me, plus a little magic too. "

He looks back at the room, squinting, thiinking of the itch he just can't scratch. "It's a feeling....."

Fin considered saying that backtracking was a waste of time, but then thought better of it.  He had learned to trust the instincts of his dwarven friend as they were right more often than not.

The rogue shrugged as he said, "I've already searched it once, but I'd be happy to have another looked around.  Any notion as to what I should be looking for, Brankx?"

….and he trusted his instincts.

"Take anouther look around, slowly. I don't want ter miss anything." He walks in with fin and starts looking around.

Fin dutifully followed Brankx back to the meditation room, wholly unsure of what anyone might have missed.  Setting his gear down near where he had previously slept for a few hours, the rogue quietly began going over the area once more.  As before, he avoided directly touching the statue or glowing benches.

Once done, he turned to the dwarf and shook his head slightly from left to right.  "Sorry, my friend, but just like the first go around, I'm not finding anything here that's out of place," he said.

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

Brankx, ignoring the words of the others, searched the room over, all the while a furrowed brow of frustration. After minutes, the dwarf snorted, one hand on his staff, the other on a hip, clearly frustrated. He shook his head and closed his eyes, chanting in dwarfish. When he finished, his reaction was one that was not expected.

The dwarf staggered, almost like he took a blow to th head.

Stumbling, he steadied himself, leaning heavily on his staff in one hand, his other clutching at his temple as he closed his eyes and clenched his teeth in pain.

Within moments, the dwarf recovered enough to speak. "Ye darn bastard son of an orc fool!" He muttered. Bending over, he breathed heavily. But came upright with a smile. "....wasn't expectin' that!"

The dwarf asked slowly, clearly shaken, to one of the benches and dropped to the seat, laying his staff at his feet. He gestured the others over shaking his head.

"Ye weren't wrong about this being a place o' power girl....my simple spell to detect magical auras amplified so much that it nearly knocked me beard off.....but the plus side is I know what all this gear can do fer us."

Sighing, he indicated each item as he spoke.

"Th' dagger, shortsword and longsword are nhanced to be stronger, sharper and lighter....a common enchantment. Likewise, th' shield is stronger....again, common in magical items. That longsword has somethin' further on it, I believe it's been blessed by th' sun god."

"Th' pendant and one o' the rings bestow a measure of protection to someone, and th' other ring has th' ability to make a person jump. The cloak improves th' persons physical and mental resistance. Th' belt, however, is something I need to further study.....its magical alright, but where the spell let me discover all this, the belt still eludes me."

The dwarf, though clearly still a little shaken, had a smile on his face....both at the potential of this room enhancing spells, and the finds. "Such finds will help us if we are goin' to be meeting water demons and skeletons....or worse. I say we use them and once it's cleared out, we ask the mayor of these and any other items"

He looked at the group. "I have no need of the weapons or shield.....sure th' dagger may help, but with me spells and staff I think I should be fine. Likewise, I have no need fer the jumping ring....but either the ring or amulet that bestows armor, I could use. Being a wizard I use no armor, and something like that could save me life. Likewise, th' cloak would be useful."

He picks up the belt. "This.....I will hold onto until I know it's powers, and that is no question. I won't endanger anyone with an unknown items power.....even you balayst." The dwarf packed the belt into his pack, determined to figure that out at a later date.

Cumarinda smiles and nods to the dwarven mage. She looks over the collection of items and picks up the heavy shield and the longsword.

"I will take these two items these two items into my care. The shield because it can better safeguard me and this sword because it is dedicated to the Great God Pelor. If anyone else feels that they can make better use of either of these enchanted items, then I will consider surrendering them into your care."

Ballast looks at the pendant, and doesn't quite sigh, though you get the impression he's a little disappointed.  "It is good to be protected.  But you are softer than I," he says, and hands the pendant over to Brankx.  "It is you who need protection more."

As Cumarinda takes the shield, Ballast speaks again.  "I am also a shield-user, but you are also softer than me.  But if no one else has use of the cloak, I could use that.  Or one of the magical weapons that the priest has not claimed."

Re: (IC) The Village of Korthos

The dwarf smiles led at the friendly natured chat of them, despite his head still throbbing. He closed his eyes, and opened them to balayst's words and nodded, placing the amulet around his neck. "Ye take th' cloak balayst.....it will fit Ye better than me anyway. I suggest Ye take a magic weapon anyway....some undead can be resistant to normal weapons. Maybe Ye take the shortsword as Ye backup weapon. Fin can take th' dagger."

He looked at Fenris, holding out the ring of protection. "Ye take this el...." He stopped himself from calling Fenris elf....he was about to call him that of habit. "....Fenris. Ye a crazy fool but a gifted fighter....this ring will help Ye."

The dwarf placed the ring of jump on his finger, only claiming it as no one else had,...besides, he had a fun idea if tactics to use that.

The dwarf got to his feet slowly, leaning on his staff. "Let's get movin', but slowly.....it feels like I've been kind caked in th' head by a herd of mules."

<OOC: to speed things up I thought I'd take some liberties. Cumarinda takes the longsword and shield, Ballast the short sword an cloak, Fin the dagger, Fenris the ring of protection, an Brankx the amulet of armor. Brankx is holding the ring of jump (so fin or Fenris, if you want it, speak up), and he has the belt until he identifies it.

Everyone ok with that?>
