(IC) Old Cannith Ruins

Despite wanting to go to all the areas, Fenris grumbles and takes the lead. Of course savingt the town is more important. They head outsde into the wilds outside of town. Its oddly warmer out here but not much. Besides basic wilderness animals, nothing it seen. Upon occasion, the barbarian stops and cooks up the squirrels and when anyone decides to bother him, he walks off. Why? A day passes and they arrive at the ruins.

(IC) Old Cannith Ruins

As they arrive at the ruins, the fire haired young priestess calls for
all the party to gather around her. Facing the sun, Cumarinda brings her palms together, bows her head and closes her eyes.
"Great Lord Pelor, Father of the Sun, Shining Master of Healing, and Lord of Light.
Please grant us all your blessings as we face darkness and evil.
Oh Father of Strength, fill us with power and courage
to vanquish evils known and unknown.
I, your faithful servant Curmarinda Imbrex, ask for these things so that
all that is good will prevail and your glorious light and warmth may shine ever brighter in the hearts of the people!"

Ending the prayer with her warm smile and a joyful look in her eyes, Cumarinda turned
to the rest of the party, "Now that we are blessed we will go find the mage and save the village."

(IC) Old Cannith Ruins

During the trip to the ruins, the dwarf was silent, mulling over some unknown thought. When he saw Fenris's behaviour, the dwarf just shook his head. Brankx had known him for a while....just as long as balayst, but was more of an enigma than the warforged.

...more unpredictable.

The dwarf shrugged it off, passing it as the barbaric nature of his way, and returned to thinking as he walked.

When they arrived, the dwarf walked up to Cumarinda's left and stood there, leaning in his staff. He let her do her thing, facing occasionally at Debris.

Once done, the dwarf sighed. He was not religious....he was a dwarf of logic and reasoning, but also knew that some things, like the gods were something he couldn't explain.

"let's find this mage and get us some answers."

Nothing seems odd or out of place besides being in ruins. Fenris sniff and kneels down, staring at the ground. He places his hands near a bush then on the ground before moving forwards. His hand rests on a small stone and he leans forwards, his head staring at the ground then turns his head. The man stands up slowly and goes to a nearbye area, leaning down against. He whips some dirt to one side and grunts.

A growl comes from the barbarian as he turns and stares at the dwarf, his eyes narrow and he grips the crowbar tightly. He puts it into his pack and pulls out his sword after the two get through the boarded up door. The man steps inside.

It looks like some sort of abandoned manufactur area but it looks run down. A corridor leads off to the north. It looks like it was unused for some time and is covered in muck. Some odd debree lines one of the walls. It looks like some sort of sewage area.

The group keeps moving down the passageway and it comes into a small opening. Its circular and can fit the group almost looking like a sewertunnel but in better shape. As Fenris and the others get to the other side, they see a grate with a gate that's closed and inside the gate are three pipes leading down and stopping about four feet from the ground. Three circular levers are near them. To the right is another sewertunnel opening and to the left it looks like a magical door thats sealed shut but they can see through it barely.

After healing the dwarf mage, she turned her gauze upon Ballast and Fenris asking, "Would either of you; Ballast, Fenris, try your hand at this puzzle? I would myself but it's best for me to say back so I can heal what wounds that might happen."

The dwarf stands and winces as the pain eases from the healing. He places a hand on Cumarinda. "Thanks fer the healing lass....and it wasn't bravery that spurned me on, more anger at this fool and stuborness on me part."

He looked down and snorted, then at Fenris again. He walked towards the now open portal, muttering as he passed the barbarian.

A low growl comes from the barbarian. His eyes narrow on the dwarf, hands clenched tightly. It looks like he wants to rip the dwarfs head off with just his fists. He gets close to him, and snarls at him before moving by Brankx. Upon seeing the warforged step forwards, he stops but doesn't draw his blade.

The hall seems to be almost sewerish, and when the group gathers up he stops and keeps his distance from the dwarf as apprently its good he doesn't get close.

Inside the room, the area is about sixty feet long, circuler. Bits of bones and debree are scattered around and across the way is a closed door. A strong wind blows across the room.

Whoosh. Whoosh. Whoosh. THe sound of the wind blows through the area.

The barbarian growls at the cleric and steps away from the wizard, remaining in the sewer hole. His eyes narrow at the wierd mist and pulls out his sword. He sticks to the sidelines of the room, watching it. The man motions towards it and stops about 15' from it along the wall.

The wind doesn't make any movement just moves across the area. But then the wind starts to form in the center, filling an area. It seems like it can see everyone but doesn't move.

Several books rest on the table. Stone statues line the walls-one centered in the middle of the backwall. Two on each side of the walls.  It looks like a small study. Two chests rest against the wall beneath another bookshelf. Sitting there is a cloaked form, looking at a book. It flips the page at times and finally it looks up. The man stands up "So it seems I have been found. Who are you? If you wish not to tell so be it and leave my home. It seems my allies were no match but trust me-I am." Kaja Bauerdatter (not sure if you asked but you can assume and be right!) Probably the reason why she was upset. Don't think her name was mentioned but you can say the mayor told you and that shes related.

Re: (IC) Old Cannith Ruins

The dwarf smiled and nodded at Lars. "Too true....I'm no match fer the wyrm. The mayor has the crystal in need of repairing"

He glared at Fenris and snorted. "Fenris....by the gods, will ye stand down!"

He then again looked at Lars. "I believe ye have family there still...one warches the tombs. Goes by Kaja. Pretty upset when we saw her last, but in good health. Any other family, I don’tknow of but happy ter keep an eye out fer ya."

Re: (IC) Old Cannith Ruins

The barbarian looks at the dwarf and stares at him, gripping his sheathed sword.

"Seems you are not good at making allies or friends Brankx. Course neither does the elf. Strange elf." The mage taps his staff "Kaja. I missed her." He rubs his bearded chin "Defending the cleric. A bodyguard." Lars leans against the table "Allies against allies and yet you want the best for the village and to kill the Dragon. Or at least stop it." He taps the staff again "We will go." He goes over to a chest, rummaging inside of it and puts it into a pack before standing up and speaks in a Draconic tone, moving the staff around "Take my staff. I will hold onto it."

Fenris glances back at the cleric and goes to take her hand removing his from the sheathe. He glances at the dwarf and warforged then back to Lars.

Re: (IC) Old Cannith Ruins

Brankx recognised the incantation of the spell being used and smiled. He himself had not the power to use such a spell, but his mentor had the skill and had shown him.

The dwarf, holding his own staff in one hand, walked over to the man and held his staff with the other with a smile.

"Ye full of surprises I must say. Ye friends and now this...."

He looked at the others and nodded. "It be safe....trust me."

Re: (IC) Old Cannith Ruins

"I am not a ally or a friend. It needs to be done, nothing more." The mage holds out his staff as the dwarf takes it "And to see Kaja." A glowing orb begins to form, a combination of white, blue and purple.

The warforged takes the dwarf's hand and reaches out to the cleric. Fenris waits, holding his hand to the cleric as well.

Re: (IC) Old Cannith Ruins

For the first time since entering the room, Cumarinda's smile returns. "Thank you Lars Hayton, may Lord Pelor bless all of your kith and kin," she prays with a warm smile.

Quickly, she takes the hands of both Ballast and Fenris, after slinging her shield to her back. Looking into the elf barbarian's eyes, she gently squeezes Fenris' fingers.

Re: (IC) Old Cannith Ruins

As everyone takes the staff, the mage mutters a few more incantations. The glowing orb gets bigger and within seconds the entire group and Lars dissapears.

Off to Korthos.
