Kneeling down, the ranger is spotted about twenty feet away behind a stalagmite. He seems focused, eyes narrowed and his bow is drawn. Turning towards the two, he sighs and motions for them to back away before turning back to look at something.

Zokiro backs up somewhat, taking her lights with her, and sighs silently.  And how were they to know Qing had gone off to investigate something in a cave and not been abducted and killed?  He had not left any kind of note or indication as to where he had gone! She waits, ears tuned to whatever might Qing might be stalking.

Joining her clan sister in following the silent directions from the ranger, she backs away from where they were sighted. She looks quizzically at Zokiro and whispers softly into her ear, "What should we do next?"

"There is something there, probably hostile, worth watching. He may need our help if things get violent, particularly if there are more than one or two. We can only be ready," Zokiro says, her voice equally quiet.

As the woman converse, the ranger keeps staring at someone. Setsuko steps back and her leg gets caught in a big web. It seems to trigger something through the threads as something moves above her. It slides down to her eye-level but its covered in webbing. It twitches at times then goes still. A small spider starts to come down the wall about twenty feet away. Then another and another. They stop at the floor staring at the two women. Qing takes a quick breath."Do not move." He whispers.

At Qing's direction, Setsuko freezes in place, her breathing slow, soft, and quiet. Her eyes move back and forth, noting the various spiders moving around her. She lets herself slip into a light meditative state, her body relaxed but immobile, her senses fully attuned to her environment. She mentally prepares her body for action, thinking that she may soon have to act immediately.

Zokiro stays in place, but brings her hands up in a fan pose, ready to fling fire if the spiders become hostile!

Another three spiders appear near the ranger. He bites his lip, watching them intently as they scurry around. He slowly goes to draw his twin blades.

One of the spiders seem to stare at the two woman before skitting up a web wall. The odd webbed up thing drops down to the ground.

Zokiro tries to catch Qing's eye, raising her hands slightly and fluttering her fingers before glancing towards the spiders, trying to indicate if he wanted her to flame the arachnids before they decided to try to dine up on the travelers!

The young monk maintains her position and her state of awareness and readiness. She watches for: Directions from either Qing or Zokiro, the movements of the spiders she can easily see, and other new threats. She keeps her breathing slow and quiet and stays focused on her environment.

"Back up very...." Something catches the ranger's attention. His eyes narrow as  two spiders stare at the woman and one stares at him. He pulls out his swords."They know we are here." He sits up slowly, trying to not make himself out to be a threat.

All the spiders leave save three of them and they are as big as dogs.

"Don't get between me and them," Zokiro says softly and brings her hands up.  "I will start to back out.  If they advance, I will flame them."

Suiting words to action, Zokiro begins to back out very carefully, trying to make sure that Qing and Setsuko are never between her and the large spiders.  If they advance, she will call upon the flames of burning hands.

Setsuko nods to Zokiro and begins to back out slowly, keeping one eye on the spiders and the other on her clan sister. She moves very deliberately, making sure to move in harmony and cooperation with Zokiro's words and efforts.

Softly she says, "I hope these spiders know that I mean them no harm nor do I choose to be anyone's meal."

Suddenly, the cave where they entered from gets full of webs! The three spiders watch them but do not act but if they go to leave they follow. The ranger slowly gets up, with his blades drawn. His hands tense up and he watches the other two.

Zokiro has no desire to become food for spiders.  She raises her hands in their fan shape and lets loose a sheet of flame at the creatures!

OOC: Casting burning hands, trying to catch as many spiders as I can in the 15' cone.  DC 16 reflex save for half damage.
04:57, Today: Zokiro Mirumoto rolled 5 using 3d4.  Burning hands damage.

Setsuko moves to be sure to be out of the way of Zokiro's spell and any burning webbing, while readying her quarterstaff to defend either herself or her clan sister against any advancing spiders.

Zok's spell hits the spiders, harming them.

Qing steps up with his twin blades and misses.

Each spider attacks one of them. They all miss but not the one against Set.
Take 6 Damage and make a Fort Save DC 12

The monk swings her staff twice but misses its mark.

The ranger goes to strike again and hits but his second strike misses badly and he almost loses his blade.

Setsuko steps back, shocked and by the sudden and vicious attack of the spider. Her expression shifts from contemplative to focused and determined.

After Zokiro casts her spell and burns the spiders, Setsuko whips her quarterstaff around in a flowing pattern that strikes several times at the offending arachnid attacking her. "I'm sorry great spider but you forfeit your life when you attacked me."

Zokiro only emits a strangled cry as the spider tries to bites her.  She backs away from it and fire flares from her hands again!

Zok fires her spells again but barely harms the spiders getting all of them.

Qing swings his blades, the first missing but the second rips into the spider, killing it!

The two spiders go after Zok and Set! One of them moves and attacks Zok doing some damage.
Take 6 Damage Zok and make a Fort Save DC 12

The monk swings her staff again and misses but her second attack swings around and she drops it!

The ranger moves and attacks the spider, flanking the one going after Zok and he tears into him but it stays standing.

Setsuko moves nimbly in a dancing pattern of dodges, bobs, weaves, jumps and blocks all in an effort to avoid the savage bite of the spider. She makes certain to keep her allies and quarterstaff in sight.

"By our ancestors swords, I would never have believed that such deadly spiders as these could be real." she gasped with a frustrated voice.

Zokiro tries not to cry out as the spider bites her, the wound burning like acid.  She backs up some more and flames the spiders a third time!

Zokiro turns to the last spider and angles to hit only the arachnid.  Her flare of flame is much more powerful this time as it roars from her fingertips.
