Character generation follows the random Career roll method found in the main rulebook (with a couple of house rule exceptions noted below). However if you have your heart set on playing a specific Career or are unhappy with the Career options you rolled up ask me about it - random rolls are meant to be fun, not a straight jacket!
Elves
are permitted but be aware they
will definitely be treated differently by most people. Dwarfs and Halflings are playable as is, though ideally I'd like at least half the party to be human for narrative purposes.
Foreign (non-Imperial) characters are permitted and if you own the requisite sourcebook (
Knights of the Grail or
Realm of the Ice Queen) you may roll up a character with those rules, though they should come with a reasonable story why they are in the Empire!
House Rules in Character Generation:
- Roll a 1d100 twice and pick whichever result you like (players who own the Career Compendium may instead roll 1d1000 twice and then pick their preferred roll.)
- Characters created with randomly rolled Careers begin with maximum starting Fate Points. Characters who begin with a Career selected without rolling, roll for their Fate Points as normal.
