If you want to join, you need a strong character concept. Character sheets will be filled in as we play, so you need a good enough idea that if I ask if you would have a skill, trait, advantage, or disadvantage, you can decide quickly.

Concept requirements:

  • A human from what's basically the real world.
  • Knowledgeable about 8-bit video games from the mid to late 80s, with a preference for those of the Nintendo Entertainment System or Famicom. Maybe you're a competitive player, content creator, emulation program creator, or video game historian. Older characters in their late 30s and 40s make the most natural sense if you played them when they were commercially available, but younger characters work if they're really into retrogames for whatever reasons.
  • Capable of moving over varied terrain at a good pace. You don't have to be athletic, but you should be capable of walking, running, and jumping unaided.
  • Capable of enduring a long trip into space. You don't need any skills, you just can't suffer from spacesickness or G-Intolerance
  • You can be reasonably capable. No action star, but, you know, competent.
  • You can be inept. Not entirely helpless, but you could choose to be relatively unskilled aside from your interest in video games... just plan to put your points into metagame traits like Luck instead of skills.

In addition to your base concept:

For those who know GURPS

You'll have a point budget of 125 points. These will be spent as we determine facts about your character in play. You can start out by spending points on attributes and anything immediately apparent about your character (appearance, build, one-eye, mute, voice, etc).

If you don't know GURPS

Give me a paragraph or two describing your character concept. We'll also be assigning whatever traits are immediately obvious to anyone encountering you, so give me a general idea of how strong you are (below average, average, above average, olympic weightlifter, etc), how agile (clumsy, average, incredibly deft, etc), how intelligent (a dumbass, average, kinda bright, freakin' genius, etc), and how hearty (frail, sickly, average, possessive of an iron constitution, etc). Also anything else you want to define like being super hot, a fugmo, missing an arm, hard of hearing, etc.
