At just about 0800 hours the group gathered in the conference room, where two officers in Space force uniforms were waiting for them. The woman was in her forties, tall and athletic, with silver-streaked dark hair pulled back into a bun. The man was a few years younger, with a muscular build, closely cropped dark brown hair, a chiseled jawline, and piercing green eyes.

The woman extended a handshake as each entered. "Major General Sullivan, glad to have you aboard. This is my second in command and executive officer, Colonel Anderson."

"I'll keep this simple." Anderson flashed the civilians a grin. "We need you to get a sense for the anomaly. What it's like to be there, what it's like to be out on patrol. Sometimes we’ll have more concrete goals for you, send you out with some field researchers, but for this trip just go in, look around, explore a little. Get your feet wet.

"Sergeant Ramierez and Corporal Martinez - two of our Marine compliment - will accompany you as your security detail. They’re in charge, but they’re going to stay out of your way. They tell you to do something or that it’s time to go back, you listen."

"Questions?"

Charlie puts his hand up, "Can I have an electric toothbrush? Do camaeras work in the anomaly?"

"You should have a toiletries kit reserved for your personal use in your communal washroom," Colonel Anderson responded. "And you'll be outfitted with bodycams. These won't stream back a feed, but they'll store what you hear and see for our analysts."
