"It is a pleasure to meet you and it always heartwarming to meet those who know my mother."

Kylen starts dragging corpses down wind of the house guessing that they are far enough away to draw off the scavengers.

Remy turns to the human that is with Baylor and introduces himself.

"Pleased to meet you, I am Remy Remington and that is Kylen over there dragging bodies.  Mer has a canoe. We can float together. I am sure there will be no danger, but things have been weird with the kobolds lately. "

He extends a hand to Chy for a shake.

"Well met, Remy Remington" replies Chyresia, shaking the man's hand. "We had some kobolds invade Baylor's garden upriver last night. It seems they are getting much more aggressive. And Baylor's been finding these totems to some kind of god among the kobolds. I don't understand half of it, but it sounds like someone is riling them up using religion as a way to get them angry at other people.

"Kurtulmak I think she said was the god's name. Not my area of knowledge, I'm afraid."

Kylen goes to the water and rinses his hands off and crosses to Chyresia and extends a hand.

"Pleasure to make you aquaitance Chyresia! This is our second encounter in as many days with these creatures."

Kylen turns to Mer and Maple.

"Chyresia said that they encountered a band of Kobolds earlier in Baylor's garden. They also had the totems of Gnomeslayer."

Kylen looks for the next corpse that needs to be hauled away and returns to work.

Chyresia shakes a lot of hands in quick succession, trying to remember so many new names. She looks over at  Baylor to judge when the druid is ready to leave. She's the one she's made assurances to, but it seems they are all going in the same direction and worrying about the kobolds.

Her raft looks a bit crude compared to the sleek canoe, but then she chastises herself for thinking less of Rolf's gift to her.

"I am looking forward to hearing about your adventure Chyresia. I always enjoying hear of adventure."

"Mer, I am very much looking forward to a ride on the river. I do not have a lot of experience on a boat so this will be new!"

The floatilla gets underway with Mer, Remy and Kylen paddling the canoe. Kylen looks a bit large for the craft, but not dangerously so. Perhaps; a bit comically so.

The float is expected to take about 4 hours Mer explains. Then they will have about an hour walk from there. The morning is pleasant and cool. Birds are heard in the trees. A slight breeze blows from the east.

Kylen feels a little awkward until he gets the rhythm of the oar. Although when he starts pursuing it as a rhythm he catches on quickly.

He does find himself getting distracted from time to time as he views the woods from this new perspective. The woods are absolutely beautiful and it is hard to believe that they could be harboring these little minions of destruction and chaos.

He does try to keep his ears opened and his eyes peeled for anything that looks remotely unusual, but due to his newness to the woods, his perspective of "unusual is not very well tuned.

As they return to the bosom of the river, the canoe proves much more maneuverable and swifter than the raft, which is essentially a vaguely steerable bit of flotsam. Nevertheless, Chy is content to drift along at the speed the current imparts, certain that they will arrive when they get there.

She asks Baylor questions about the plants and animals they see that she is not familiar with and also asks if the lovely druid has any idea why the kobolds are suddenly so aggressive.

In response to Kylen's interest in her tale, she tells him details about her adventures on the river but leaves it a bit vague about where she has come from and why she left. As she talks her eyes move ceaselessly over the surface of the river and the banks looking for anything out of the ordinary. She also sniffs the air from time to time and notes from which direction the wind is blowing. Her longbow is rarely out of her hands except when she is steering the raft to stay in te best position on the river.

"What do we think will happen when we get to Glitterhovel?" she asks everyone in turn.

"Expect food, hospitality, some laughs and more food! Glitterhovel is the patron settlement of our father Garl Glittergold.  He loves having a good time and so do we gnomes of Glitterhovel.  The town itself is mostly accomodating to bigguns, unlike some gnome villages. Glitterhovel has many artisan shops and did I mention food?"

Baylor speaks uncharacteristically loudly to be heard by all.

"The return of Kurtulmak to the forest would be a violation of the Sacred Pact of Vulmure. Finding a few idols does not constitute a return. However the uptick in draconic activity of late is concerning. The Glitterhovel clergy need be informed. I will be paying a visit to Kinder Cobble upon arrival."

"Dear Mer. Could you provide me a return trip? I will gladly repay the kindness."

To Chy and more quietly.

"Chyresia, you have been very brave and helpful. I'd advise you to talk to Remy about your next steps. He is an idea man, and a merchant. They are always into something."

"Thank you, Baylor," Chy sat next to the druid on the raft as they drifted on the current. "I loved your garden. I hope I may return sometime. I will speak with Remy as you suggest when we stop for the night."

The ranger watches the banks slide by, wondering what is to come next. More confrontations with the kobolds, or perhaps some kind of employment with a merchant like Remy? She had not really thought through how she would live when she ran away from home, but here she was surrounded by folk with plans and tasks. She was sure she would find a way to fit in.

Merleads the way for the long morning. The forest is calm and the day is warm. He leads the boats to a landing near a small bow in the river. The river bends toward the south and the beach landing is on the north bank. There are other small boats beached in the spot. No one is attending to them.

"We can leave our rides here. Make sure to take anything not attached. Hopefully, they won't be disturbed.  I am heading back in the morning. We have about an hour walk north to get to Glitterhovel."

Chyresia is careful to pull her raft well up onto the bank and carry her gear with her when they leave the river. She has promised Baylor that she will see her safely to Glitterhovel, and she takes the charge seriously. She holds her short spear ready as they walk and her eyes and ears and nose are all seeking out details of the surrounding countryside as they move along the path. She walks a pace or two behind the gnome druid, their height difference allowing her to see over her head to the trail beyond while providing a physical barrier to her back with her own body.

As the group moves along the trail, she will speak with the others as the opportunity arises.

Kylen is the only person she has noticed who is about her own height and she will ask him where he comes from and how he ended up here. She also speaks with Remy, as Baylor suggested, to ask him if he had any suggestions about what she might be able to do to make a living along the river.

"I can hunt and fight," she tells him. "And I'm good with animals. Pack animals and the like."

Kylen stood up from the canoe, stepped out and stretched his legs feeling refreshed and ready to walk. He grabbed his pack and arranged his gear so he was comfortable.

"Baylor, I hope I am not being to forward, but I am hoping you would allow me to accompany you to speak with the clergy? I am a bit of a history buff and would like to get more information the kobolds past and what is leading to current encursion. I am also hoping I can lend my skills to help rectify the situation."

Kylen waits patiently for Baylor's response and tries mask his curiosity as best he can.

The group hiked north on a gnome trail, hard to see, and soon came to the equally hard to see southern entrance for locals. Luckily this group qualifies, barely. There are no guards, just a narrow stairway down to a long narrow passage running north for hundreds of feet before coming to the corner of Willow Way and Shady Lane. A young female gnome sees you approach but does not greet the newcomers. She scurrys off down Shady Lane before they arrive.

"Welcome to Glitterhovel! We will follow Williw Way north through the residential district, then into the bazaar. I will then part ways as I have a wife to kiss.
This is for you Kylen. You were a fine travel companion,  and very good in the frey. I will be heading back to Edwin in a month or so. You can always find me dining at the Golden Tankard. I threw a little extra hazard pay in there. "

Remy hands Kylen a pouch with 10 shiny plats.

"You can find a nice room at the Tankard as well.  They even have a bath. Enjoy the town for awhile. I think you will find profit if you're keen to it."
