Chapter 0: Choosing a Companion

Champions:

How this thread will work in Chapter 0 is very simple. I will provide you with eight possible choices for a "Champion". You will initially be free to discuss with fellow players. Since this is a relatively abstract process - you can do so OOC.

You are not bound to only select a Champion that is the same color as you are. Once assigned, this Champion will have been a loyal servant for many years and any unselected champion with go *poof* and never have existed at all.

When you are ready, rank them in the order that you prefer (with the first choice being your favored). Roll a D10 "Roll for Champion" and post it. Once everyone has made their selection, I'll go in order with the highest roll first, and assign Champions that way.

These Champions are Adventurers who can explore, troubleshooters you can send to deal with problems, lead Dragonkin and goblin alike. They report directly to you, but serve all Dragonkind.

They stand a head taller than humans, are physically strong. They typically do not wear armor since they have natural dragon scale (not nearly as thick as yours). Your initial champion is above average in all regards - and you can be certain of their absolute loyalty after many years of service.

1. Althed  -Female Gold Dragonkin
2. Morciar -Male  Obsidian (Black) Dragonkin
3. Jinvarax -Female Emerald (Green) Dragonkin
4. Ealxes - Male  Ruby (Red) Dragonkin
5.  Eragrax - Female Saphire (Blue) Dragonkin
6. Falrun -Male Copper Dragonkin
7. Lumiseth -Female Gold Dragonkin
8. Khaelor - Male Obsidian (Black) Dragonkin

[*] Details [*]

Althed, a paragon among dragonkin, embodies stoicism and dedication, clad in robes of white and gold gossamer spider silk. As a priestess wielding a dual-bladed spear, she channels healing magic with divine grace, stoic and prioritizing duty above all.

Althed is at home in the temple, the wilderness, or the palace, but can often be found alone contemplating in the ancient grove of Dragon Forge.

Morciar, a somber warrior of obsidian descent, brooks no disobedience in his relentless pursuit of his master's will. Adorned in ancient spiked mithril chain, he commands respect with his imposing stature and mastery of the blade, serving as both a formidable warrior and unwavering leader.

He has no qualms obeying any order.

Morciar is adept with two handed blades, and a skilled warrior and leader.

Morciar wears ancient spiked mithril chain armor that is more form than function, but it does give him a very imposing presence.

Jinvarax, a melody of emerald hues, serenades the air with ancient dragon songs, her voice a beacon of tranquility amidst turbulent times. Draped in regal attire, she channels arcane lore and gentle persuasion, seeking lost knowledge with an insatiable curiosity and a heart of compassion.

Jinvarax is a very pleasent Dragonkin who often sings the ancient dragon songs in a lovely voice,

She is a preistess who is skilled in ancient dragon songs and arcane lore - she is fascinated with the age of titans and often pursues lost lore. She has a passing familiarity with magic. She can play several musical instruments and has a golden lyre.

She wears a blue gossamer silk robe with green inlay that gives her a very regal appearance.

Jinvarax prefers kindness and persuasion over brute force solutions.

Ealxes, a tempest of ruby flame, blazes through the mountains with unrivaled fervor, his prowess in battle matched only by his expertise in tracking and hunting. Clad in ornate mithril armor of crimson and gold, he embraces the wilds with impetuous zeal, eschewing ancient lore for the thrill of the hunt and the glory of the open sky. He is skilled with axes, swords and bows.

He is an expert with dual bladed axes, flails, and bows. He is also fairly decent with a double bladed spear.

He has an ornate set of spiked mithral armor that has been painted red and gold.

He is impetous and impatient, preferring to be outside of castles and has very little interest in ancient lore, dusty tomes. He is very familiar with the outside mountain range and often goes hunting for game.

Eragrax, a sapphire beacon in the night, stands as a paragon of honor and integrity, wielding the arcane arts with an ethereal grace that mirrors her unwavering loyalty. Draped in robes of gold and white, she upholds a code of chivalry, sparing those who surrender and defending the helpless with resolute determination.

A proud and honorable Astral Mage, she carries an ornate staff of office but it would not make an effective weapon.

She is very loyal, but would not slay an opponent that surrendered, or those who cannot protect themselves unless it was a direct order.

Falrun, a charismatic rogue of copper hue, regales his peers with tales of daring escapades and swashbuckling adventures. Armed with wit and charm, he wields his longsword and dagger with finesse, captivating audiences with his musical prowess and infectious enthusiasm for life's grand odyssey.

Falrun is young, and considers himself to be a charming and handsome rogue of sorts. He is also a skilled warrior with longsword and dagger, and also with short bow. Falrun is very gregarious and witty
and quite outgoing. He is very popular with the younger Dragonkin ladies. Falrun longs for adventure and glory - and sometimes (always) embellishes his stories for his own greater glory.

Falrun is an accomplished minstrel as well, and can play a Mandolin. He knows many dragon songs.

Lumiseth, a golden exemplar of martial prowess and divine grace, strides with confidence and wisdom, her mastery of the dual-bladed spear matched only by her prowess in the priestly arts. Clad in spiked mithril armor of pristine white, she seeks to prove herself through valorous deeds and unwavering resolve.

Lumiseth trained equally as a Warrior and a Preistess, specializing in a dual bladed spear -she wears white mithril spiked armor, but can cast some priestly spells. She is confident and wise, often seeking to prove herself to others.

Khaelor, a shadowy enigma born of obsidian lineage, delves into the depths of elven lore with a scholar's zeal and a warrior's resolve. Clad in spiked mithril armor, he wields a magic longsword with dark intent, his mastery of dragon song and ancient ballads echoing his quest for glory and honor in a world shrouded in darkness.

Khaelor studied under the Goblins of Darkmoon as an apprentice to the Goblin cheif, he has some magical skill, and also wields a magic longsword with a dark blade that he recovered from an adventurer that was caught in the under mountain. He is obsessed with the culture of elves, and knows a great deal of lore about them, including their language. He is a fairly skilled with Dragonsong and an ancient Elven ballads. Khaelor fancies himself something of a knight, and wears Mithril Spiked Armor. He has a code of honor, and values glory and valor.

We can start on this thread now, even though we are in the process of starting.

Chapter 0: Choosing a Companion

Yes, a 666 - a fortuitious occurrence.

Let's wait until the end, and then I'll roll some tie breakers. Not a problem. I do like how popular Khaelor was.

I hope you like the names that were offered as well. I put some thought into creating varied characters, that could still quite easily be companions of one another - so you could for instance easily send your champion off with that of another player and not feel they are too different from one another to trust each other to accomplish the mission. I did not want to get into "levels" or "stats" but rather give you some idea of their capabilities, talents and the way they may go about fulfilling your orders. Morciar might break some heads until the Goblins comply with his instructions, where Falrun might try to incentivize the goblin clans to work with one another, but in the end they accomplish your orders.

At times, lesser unnamed Dragonkin will accompany them as well and notable ones will emerge to be recuitable.

If you wish to update your list to cede Khaelor, you may - but there is another who also rolled six. I'll do tie breakers after all players finish as well.

I'll also let everyone swap during chapter 0 if they so desire (without any penalty -we'll say that they were always their faithful champion) but after that - you can tell them to serve whoever you like, but they were always your champion previously.

Chapter 0: Choosing a Companion

Name Gender Type Hoard Champion
az'Vashitris Female Saphire (Blue) Dragon 60,000 Khaelor - Male Obsidian (Black) Dragonkin
ve'Nyvrae Male Emerald (Green) Dragon 50,000 Falrun - Male Copper Dragonkin
au'CheuGuing Female Gold Dragon 50,000 Lumsieth - Female Gold Dragonkin
Cu'Caliphaer Male Copper Dragon 60,000 Jinvarax -Female Emerald (Green) Dragonkin
dr'Ozomocryr Male Black Dragon 50,000 Eragrax - Female Saphire (Blue) Dragonkin
op’Kyrantrix Female Red Dragon 50,000 Morciar - Male Obsidian (Black) Dragonkin

A quick summary of where we are currently with the personal hoards and companions. I believe I have it correct - If I made a mistake just let me know. If any of you want to TRADE companions, feel free to also make a cash offer for it.

We'll say that if the trade occurs in chapter 0, this champion was ALWAYS the recipient's loyal follower

After Chapter Zero closes, You can make trades, or simply order the champion to obey their new master, but there history of service will be with the original Master. These Champion's loyalty is without question - they have served you faithfully and depending on your leadership  style you may direct them, or allow them to spend their time as they see fit.

Once I am positive that the trades are completed (I'll give until the weekend). If you are sure you won't be trading,  I would ask that each of you  for chapter 0 provide a short set of instructions for your follower in this thread. It could be as simple as this:

Orders for Lumsieth:
 Go adventuring

More specific
Orders for Lumsieth:
Go adventuring around the Dwarven halls of Glamdural, seeking Dwarven artifacts.

Some other ideas include sending them to spy on Ac'Scrin and Scout, Explore the City of the Titans, Supervise the Gold Mine, Improve defenses around the entrances to the hall,  go hunting, inspect one or all of the Goblin Clans, train in the mystic arts. Learn of the Ancient Dragon Songs.

You can be as detailed or as non specific as you wish, and the Champion may appreciate the freedom to choose their own path in your service.

Chapter 0: Choosing a Companion

Khaelor has long served az'Vashitris from the time he was a youngling, and has been a loyal student of the Elder Dragon.

Aeoroth, a charismatic rogue of copper hue, regales his peers with tales of daring escapades and swashbuckling adventures. Armed with wit and charm, he wields his longsword and dagger with finesse, captivating audiences with his musical prowess and infectious enthusiasm for life's grand odyssey.

Aeoroth is young, and considers himself to be a charming and handsome rogue of sorts. He is also a skilled warrior with longsword and dagger, and also with short bow. Aeoroth is very gregarious and witty

Aeoroth is an accomplished minstrel as well, and can play a Mandolin. He knows many dragon songs.

Obedient to ve'Nyvrae, Aeroroth is still young and immature and at times plays pranks or ignores his official duties in favor of carousing and adventure.

Lumiseth is a rare Golden Dragonkin, and was chosen by au'CheuGuing to be her champion when she was a youngling.

Jinvarax prefers kindness and persuasion over brute force solutions.

She serves her master, Cu'Caliphaer with honor and pride, but at times she would prefer to be in the ancient library studying what remains of the archive rather than on official duties.
