"I ....I.....I...." Gerald is at a loss for words to answer the question. "I've been a very bad man. I don't have a family. Never did. I've always been a thief, and no one forced me. I heard adventurers could get rich exploring dungeon, and the first one I found led me to a cavern full of goblins and dragons. I promise if you let me live, I'll go home and be an honest farmer or lumberjack. I'll never steal again!"


He sounds more honest than he has in the past.

"It's true. This human seems far too frightened and desperate to leave. If he were more amenable to the position of employment we wanted to offer him, letting him live would have been an option. Alas, he doesn't seem up to the task."

Caliphaer sighs and looks at the ceiling.

"All this talk is starting to make me peckish. I could go for a snack..."

His eyes then drop down to the human. He licks his lips like a cat that just spotted a bird on the windowsill.

"You will stay here for a year and a day", offered Nyvrae, to the morsel mortal "You will entertain me with tales of the cities and cultures beyond these cavern walls. You will learn the songs of my folk... and your place. If you entertain me sufficiently, I will release you. If not, that release will be as a morsel for my supper, or that of my brethren"

Gerald cowers pathetically, unable to say more. It seems pointless to question him further - as he continues to repeat his promises of living a life of austere hard work, alternating between crying to save his pathetic hide.

"Shall you vote on it, my Masters?" Felgren notices that a quorum is being reached.

He establishes the following suggestions.

1. Eat him
2. Let him go if he promises never to tell anyone of this location
3. Give him to Darkmoon
4. Give him to the River Clan
5. Keep him for a year and a day.
6. Cut out his tongue and let him go.

Caliphaer shakes his head and speaks in the draconic tongue.

[In Draconic Tongue] "We should dispose of him. He begs for free mercy instead of offering restitution for his trespass. Even at death's door he feels no remorse. Only fear. If we let him live he will no doubt try to escape and tell other humans of the riches he saw here."

Ozomocryr speaks also in the draconic tongue.

Gerald doesn't understand your ancient dragon tongue, but he can tell that his fate is being decided and he quivers. "Please...please Majesties...I will dance in the tavern, dance in the tavern....please..." he cries and chokes a little on his own tears.


Your Seneschal regards him with cold eyes and then looks up to you and speaks rhetorically in the High Dragon tongue "Isn't it adorable that human's think they can negotiate their fate even here, amongst Dragons in their own domain?"

Kyrantrix's great head tipped towards her copper kin. “In this I am with Caliphaer," she intoned in the old tongue. "I care little what becomes of the wretch, but he has breached our defences once and I see no reason to grant him another opportunity.”

In Dragon. The beast can be eaten at any time, would keeping it for a year and a day, to extract what knowledge it has then reviewing its fate, be acceptable?

Ozomocry looks at the gold dragon CheuGuing and huffs a bit. "If the Darkmoon are in charge of gathering the information from him I don't see that as a problem...." it was obvious from his tone that Ozo was growing bored of this conversation.

[Dragon Tongue] "If those who wish to keep him a year and a day agree that Darkmoon will oversee his stay, then it seems we have a consensus. While I and cousin Kyrantrix don't agree, a vote is a vote. But mark my words, if he escapes, I will remind you that I told you so."

He snickers.

Vashitris would roll her eyes and growl at of the blue "Soundes great, now can we get on with things?" Of course this was said in the old tongue despite it being one of her slips.

Nyvrae nodded, a glint of humour in his eyes as he ran his long tongue over one fang then spoke, "Indeed, cousin. We are finished here, or close enough"

I am not entirely sure we have a consensus here.

Did I miscalculate?

At one point, Caliphaer to err on the side of giving him to Darkmoon, but I count it as an eat.

They would treat him as they do all slaves and put him to work in the most dangerous jobs handling poison spiders.

As I understand keeping him for a day and a year, it was to amuse you and inform you about the outside world, and in exchange the human could have his freedom.

If this is correct, it is a three-way tie?

The Dragon council has seldom had any tie, and no mechanism in place for tie-breakers other than conversation, perhaps you can discuss a little further and reach a conclusion about Gerald's fate?

and perhaps in future, A decree can be made about tie breakers (Dice roll, leaving it to your Champions and Seneschal to decide, or even voting one among you to be the Council Leader and tie breaker, etc)

Vashitris would recover and put back her pretense of a sturdy leader. "Seems like we've come to a tie. In which case I'll exchange my vote for eat him so we can keep things moving."

At the end of the year and a half, you can do whatever you like. You are an elder dragon and your word is law.

I think you could even eat this human, before the end of the vote, should you so wish to do so.

As to changing the vote - simply let me know. Worst case scenario, we put him back in the dungeon to decide what to do with him later.

It was a 3-way tie but someone proposed merging "darkmoon slave" with "slave 1 year 1 day" as one option which would be 4v2 if everyone is okay with that.

Having provided her thoughts about the interloper CheuGuing sets off on her exploration. Sauntering from her haven she emerges from the communal nest; taking to the air, confident that her champion and any others who expressed an interest, follow along.
