On Patrol

The fall Oklahoma sun is dry and hot, even in the late evening as you make camp. You, the members of Set 147 try and work some of the kinks out of your day's travel. The past couple of weeks have been relatively uneventful.

You've come to be a little comfortable with your teammates, and as you stare into the campfire, you share a little bit about yourselves.

Ooc: please share your character's backstory; what brought them to join The Tomorrow Legion.

On Patrol

Sitting next to the fire, still in armor but at least with his helmet on his side, Ulysses was poking the fire absent-mindedly with a stick. He looked at his erstwhile companions, such an odd company they made, but weren't a Cyber-Knight's companions always odd and unique in the stories? They were just as important as the Cyber-Knight himself, after all. Who you associate with spoke volumes of your characters more than words. But you can't look at the future without knowing the past.

"So... what brings you guys here in the Legion? Me, I just finished my training last year and had a pretty long debate with my master where to go. Kinda heated", he chuckled as he poked at the fire a little bit more. "Pun intended!", he chuckled before continuing.

"Yeah. I kinda decided to join the legion, help people out, do something there for a while. I think I want to strike out at some point later, go around helping people on my own, maybe in a proper group or with just a few companions... but for now my master made sure to put in my thick head the idea that I'd better join somewhere first to get some experience. Cause, I'm too wet behind the ears. Her words, not mine."

The large D'Norr removed his heavy combat mage armor, and tried to cool himself off. "Whew. That armor is very nice, but heavy."

He frowned as Ulysses asking why they had all joined. He was silent for a long moment before he finally spoke again, quietly. "I just...needed something different after The Siege." You could almost hear the last two words being capitalized, as if it was the only singular event of its kind in history - which it was, to him, at least. Of course, he was talking about Tolkeen. "Something more...hopeful?" He shrugged one shoulder. "Or at least something that feels less demon-y." Which, if you didn't know the D'Norr as a race would be kind of funny considering how devilish they looked.

On Patrol

Seated farther back from the fire than the others, not quite directly behind Indigo sits Jessica's rather sizable form.  Even seated on the ground her head is almost as high as some shorter humans stand, despite that her voice is a reasonable volume and even a fairly pleasant tone almost all the time.

”We meet after The Siege, joining the Legion just seemed like the thing to do at the time.  So far it seems to have been the right thing to do, I have encountered very few daemons thus far.”

Indigo shrugged, staring into the fire as he listened to the others. "I..." he looked down at the ground for a moment, "I didn't really have anywhere else to go, unless I wanted to join those bastards in the CS. And since I didn't; well let's just say the people in the town I grew up didn't want me around, and the CS don't take too kindly to people with my...gifts operating independently."

He looked back up into the flame, seemingly mesmerized by it's dance. "And yeah, maybe I can make a difference. Too much intolerance, bigotry, and hypocrisy out there; gotta do whatever we can to save ourselves from ourselves."

"Yeah, the siege. I've heard of it. I've heard too much of it", he sighed, recalling all that his master had told him. "I know I itched to be in that fight, but I was just a squire, and my master was wise enough to not join that debacle. If anything, everyone lost in that fight. And we lost a lot, dammit."

He didn't feel like talking about the Fallen.

"But, hey, new beginnings, right? Well, for you. For me it's literally my first beginning!", he said, chuckling. It was clear the young man was brimming with enthusiasm and fervour. "What adventure do you think we'll end up in? Please don't say none. I don't want to get bored to death."

On Patrol

As the conversation continues, evening turns to night.  The stars are out, the air is clear, and Ulysses fears he may just end this first patrol bored.

In the thin, early light of the new day, the morning sounds of the world waking up are interrupted by a sudden outburst from a radio signal crackling over your equipment.

A man's voice is garbled, and fades in and out.

...sighted Xiticix...
...Red River...before it’s too late...
...Valiant...

Let's have a Common Knowledge roll, please.

Although awake already, or more likely still, when the static filled voice comes over the radio Jessica doesn't react to it, instead simply maintaining her casual surveillance of the area surrounding the camp from the same spot she has been sitting all night as the others slept through the night.

Jumping up in a rush, Ulysses reached to the radio, trying to hear what the garbled voice was communicating. Xiticix? That rang a bell for sure...

OOC: 12:29, Today: Ulysses Willbrand rolled 3,5 using 1d4,1d6 ((3,5)).
I guess that's a success, barely.

Gage was meditating as he was usually wont to do early in the morning. His eyes snapped open as unclear radio chatter sounded. He let out a small sigh, "Oh no."

He quickly began putting his armor on.

OOC: Yup. That feels about right.
15:00, Today: Gage rolled 3,2 using d6,d6, rerolling max with rolls of 3,2.  Common Knowledge.

Indigo's eyes didn't open when he heard the garbled voice; he'd always found he could concentrate better with his eyes closed.

So apparently Indigo knows everything...that would be a 20 on Common Knowledge

16:12, Today: Indigo rolled 3,6 using d6,d6.  Common Knowledge.
16:15, Today: Indigo rolled 6 using 1d6.  Ace.
16:15, Today: Indigo rolled 6 using 1d6.  Ace again.
16:15, Today: Indigo rolled 2 using 1d6.  Ace again, again.
