Inconsistent Daylight Saving Time Zone

My home screen and game thread screens show the time as GMT-8, which isn't correct for me since Sunday's switch to Daylight Saving Time.

However, within threads, within preferences, and during message creation, the screens show the time as GMT-7, which is correct.

Is this a known bug?  If so, my humble apologies.  I do not usually read this forum...  :o

I'm not sure if it's a known bug in the sense that it's something actually wrong with RPoL and not on our ends, but it's something I've noticed for several years now when the times change.

One set of times for me is always off, and the other is always right (within threads vs. outside of threads). As a GM, if I need to look at a login time versus a post, and can't remember which time is right, I've developed the habit of just checking vs. my last login. As a player, I decided it just wasn't an issue, since a post has either happened since I was last there or it hasn't.

But yeah...it's not new, whichever end is causing it, and I think the last time I mentioned it I was told it was probably on my end. It's been so long, I don't really recall.

Inconsistent Daylight Saving Time Zone

Keep in mind the international nature of rpol, and that Daylight Savings Time is not a consistently applied thing.  For example, Sydney Australia (where I am) has not changed its clocks yet, and won't do so for another three weeks.  Brisbane, which is in the same time zone, doesn't change its clock at all.

What perplexes me most is the inconsistency.  I would have expected either all of the pages to be correct or all of the pages to be incorrect...  O_o

Inconsistent Daylight Saving Time Zone

RPoL saves all post times as GMT, and displays to the user adjusted for their time zone, read directly from the setting on the user's device - IE RPoL doesn't have any time zone data itself - it gets the necessary info from the device.

In the past, the fix has been to log out of RPoL and clear browser cookies, then reboot the device before logging in again.

If that doesn't work, then there might be an issue with the way your device is handling manual adjustments to time zone vs using the automatic setting (assuming you've gone that way), or it might just fix itself overnight !  Devices do funny things sometimes.  :>
