The Seth'ra are a physically imposing race of reptilian humanoids with a strong belief in destiny and fate. Each 'Fated' Seth'ra is community raised, and takes his or her name after the destiny assigned to them. It is up to each Seth'ra to find their path to the "Grand Tapestry at the End of Time" by taking pride in their place, and in each and every action that they take. Most remarkable about the species is the effect that their collective spirituality has on the world around them: Seth'ra are incapable of calling on spiritual powers, and the more Seth'ra who gather in one spot, the stronger the veil between life and death becomes. Around them, those who draw power from spirits find it more and more difficult to contact the other side, while at the same time, spirits and supernatural beings who live in the material world find it more and more challenging to move and to function. Magicians find their magics dampened, and sorcerers exhaust themselves more quickly. In the presence of a single Seth'ra, this effect is nearly unmeasurable, but in cities or in the face of armies, it is significant.

Seth'ra society is highly complex, and as a people they gravitate toward elaborate ceremonies and traditions. Although they do have leaders of a sort, it is the bureaucracy itself which is often 'in charge', and few individuals exist in power who are not beholden to a dozen or more other regulators and laws that limit the scope of their influence. Even the regulators themselves are highly regulated, and few outsiders can stomach the byzantine opacity of Seth'ra governance. Although one might assume this to be a hindrance, the desire of most Seth'ra to conform to their assigned roles, as well as their natural attraction to rulemaking, means that the labyrinthine laws that govern their lives work surprisingly well, and adapt quickly to changing circumstances.

In battle, this propensity for organization results in armies who are highly disciplined and capable of deploying elaborate drills that can be as beautiful in their uniformity as they are deadly in their execution! In relationships, this manifests as courtships that can last years or decades, and in commerce this can make them challenging to work with, but rewarding and trustworthy to a fault if one can break through to understanding!
